Accessibility Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for you to drive accessibility excellence in our customer-facing web and mobile design system.

As an Accessibility Lead in the Design System team, you will champion accessible digital experiences for millions of customers. You will collaborate across teams to embed accessibility in every stage of the product lifecycle and help shape the firm's accessibility standards.

Job responsibilities

  • Identify and suggest solutions for accessibility barriers based on WCAG 2.1, PDF/UA, ADA, Section 508, and related laws
  • Recommend approaches to maintain compliance while delivering accessible digital products and excellent customer experiences
  • Provide in-depth accessibility guidance for web, mobile, and digital documents within our primary customer-facing design system
  • Coach colleagues and clients in various settings, leading technical discussions and decision-making to resolve complex accessibility issues
  • Use data on accessibility issues to identify, report, and suggest improvements to products
  • Collaborate across product, design, development, and testing roles to ensure accessibility in design system components and patterns
  • Build relationships among stakeholders to foster support for digital accessibility and communicate changes to policies and procedures

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 7 years of experience engaging accessibility in digital, customer-facing programs or functions
  • Expert knowledge of accessibility standards including WCAG 2.1, ADA, Section 508, and the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act
  • Expert-level experience in accessibility on at least one platform (web or mobile) and familiarity with a broad range: web accessibility on Windows and macOS, mobile accessibility on Android and iOS, PDF accessibility, and digital document standards
  • Working proficiency and development skills in at least one platform: semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WAI-ARIA, or native development (iOS and/or Android)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Working knowledge of Agile, Jira and familiarity with tools for automated and guided accessibility testing
  • Experience with usability and accessibility research
  • Ability to leverage industry knowledge to discern future trends and related certifications highly desired
  • Continuously challenges existing practices, seeking ways to simplify or automate processes and recommending best-in-class practices
