Automation Design Engineer

Job Summary
Designs, develops, and implements automation solutions for manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and optimize existing systems.
Job Responsibilities
Conceptualize, design, and develop automated equipment, tooling, and fixtures using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress, tolerance, and kinematic studies, to ensure design robustness and performance.
Select and integrate appropriate components such as sensors, actuators, PLCs, robotics, and vision systems.
Develop control logic and programming for automated systems (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, C++).
Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, and risk assessments for proposed automation projects.
Support the assembly, testing, debugging, and commissioning of automation systems on the production floor.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, and operation manuals.
Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance teams.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in automation technology.
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to specify and procure automation components.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in automation design, development, and implementation within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) for mechanical design.
Strong understanding of PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI development.

Knowledge of various sensors, actuators, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus).
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Project management experience is a plus.
