- Owns performance engineering outcomes across assigned platforms, ensuring systems meet defined reliability, scalability, and performance standards.
- Leads the design and execution of performance, load, stress, resiliency, and scalability testing for complex distributed systems.
- Acts as the accountable performance authority for identifying risks, driving remediation, and ensuring readiness prior to release.
- Serves as a trusted technical partner to engineering and architecture teams on performance and reliability decisions.
- Designs and maintains reusable performance testing frameworks, test beds, workload models, and automation strategies.
- Defines performance acceptance criteria, benchmarks, and test strategies to ensure consistent, repeatable validation.
- Improves efficiency of performance testing and analysis through standardized tooling and optimized workflows.
- Partners with SRE and platform teams to mature monitoring, logging, alerting, and telemetry practices.
- Delivers measurable improvements in system throughput, latency, uptime, and resilience across environments.
- Conducts deep-dive analysis of performance bottlenecks across application, database, infrastructure, and network layers.
- Ensures performance considerations are embedded into architecture reviews, design discussions, and release readiness processes.
- Tracks and reports performance outcomes, risks, and progress to engineering and reliability leadership.
- Evolves performance engineering practices by adopting modern testing techniques, observability patterns, and reliability best practices.
- Leverages APM tooling, preferably New Relic, to proactively identify systemic issues and guide optimization efforts.
- Applies automation and AI-enabled analysis techniques to accelerate performance diagnostics, anomaly detection, and root-cause analysis.
- Continuously improves performance tooling, frameworks, and methodologies as platform scale and complexity grow.
- 5–7 years of experience in performance testing and performance engineering for distributed, cloud-native applications
- Expert-level proficiency with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, k6, or similar
- Strong experience with Azure Cloud, Kubernetes, and distributed systems architectures
- Hands-on experience with .NET-based platforms and services
- Extensive experience using APM tools, preferably New Relic
- Strong SQL expertise, including performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization; experience with sharded databases preferred
- Proven ability to define performance strategies, workload models, benchmarks, and scalability plans
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting performance issues across application, database, container, and network layers
- Strong understanding of observability principles, including metrics, logs, and traces
- Experience building reusable performance automation frameworks and test harnesses
- Ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate effectively with senior engineers and architects
- Experience in fintech, payments, billing, or other high-throughput transactional systems is a plus
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, release engineering, and production readiness practices is preferred
- Knowledge of SRE principles and reliability best practices is a plus
