PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION
The role of the Sr. Director (Head), Global Access, Value & Economics (GAVE) – APAC is to proactively cultivate and manage the “economic health” of the APAC region marketplaces, leading to expanded patient access to Intuitive’s products and technologies by identifying and executing strategies to eliminate access, coverage, reimbursement, evidence and economic barriers through market access and health policy initiatives to accelerate broad adoption.
•Position the company as a thought leader in healthcare and patient access, reimbursement, and economic value generation across the Asia markets.
•Ensure that innovative healthcare solutions reach patients by integrating market access, market development, clinical affairs, governmental affairs and reimbursement strategies with commercial execution.
•Align clinical, regulatory, and economic strategies with broader corporate growth objectives to drive access, adoption, and revenue expansion.
•Foster cross-functional collaboration and integration across government affairs, clinical affairs, regulatory, finance, customer training, and commercial teams to ensure seamless regional and country planning and execution.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Position responsibilities are to:
- Work with the Intuitive leadership and market access teams to provide strategic leadership and operational management to address major barriers inhibiting adoption of ISI’s current technologies in the APAC region.
- Work closely with the joint venture entity to establish an industry-leading market development, access, healthcare economics and medical affairs function in China.
- Ensure alignment between regulatory, reimbursement, economic and health equity value strategies tailored to local healthcare landscape.
- Drive collaborative engagement with Chinese regulatory agencies, payers, and healthcare providers to accelerate market adoption.
- Oversee market-specific strategies and execution in key geographies. Direct reports in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, with support of Joint Venture in China and Distributors across Australia/NZ, and Thailand.
- Work directly with APAC region commercial and functional leadership and teams, and market access teams to identify, lead and execute strategies to improve coverage and payment through monitoring/responding to HTA activity, identifying evidence generation needs and opportunities, managing reimbursement development, support tendering shaping activities, leading relationships with key payers and market access and reimbursement focused government agencies, HTA, KOL and specialty society stakeholders, and supporting development of go-to-market launch plans.
- Conduct, with country and regional leadership, monthly, quarterly, and annual management alignment on GAVE country and regional prioritization and execution plans and activities
- Drive strategic analysis and implementation for emerging technologies (e.g. ION, SP, etc.) in APAC through partnership with business unit GAVE Directors to optimize market launch.
- Accelerate growth through short-mid and long-term market development programs
- Lead planning and execution of regional and in-country pilot programs ( e.g., China & India)
- Partner with the region commercial and marketing leadership teams (where applicable), Clinical & Product Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access & Custom Analytics, GPA, and Clinical Affairs to conduct market access landscape assessments and integrated plans to collaboratively align on short- and long-term strategies to resolve barriers to access and adoption.
- Formulate and refine value propositions for national policymakers in public/private healthcare sectors across the region. Align with country-specific Global Public Affairs teams to develop and implement internal and external messaging strategy to optimize adoption.
- Serve as an expert liaison across APAC region to identify and execute strategies to strengthen the product/technology competitive differentiation to government bodies, health policy agencies, and payer channels.
- Oversight of health economic & outcomes research activities across the region.
- Serve as an expert liaison to all APAC HTA activities and engagements.
- Work extensively with the GAVE organization’s “Center of Excellence” teams to drive strategies to address challenges from payers, policymakers, HTA agencies, medical societies, and major public and private health systems.
- Develop relationships and be active in forums, committees and/or events where major healthcare systems professional societies, payers, HTAs, academic researchers, influencers, and market access and reimbursement committees and policymakers commonly participate.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TRAINING
To adequately perform the primary roles and responsibilities, the individual must have:
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years or masters/PhD with 8+ years of experience of increasing responsibilities in applied market access, health economics, health policy/reimbursement development, payer relations, and/or HTA management.
- A relevant field of study in health economics, HEOR, health policy, public health, health or business administration, or other health or scientific discipline.
- Experience in health care medical device, technologies, hospital industry, and health care consulting highly valued.
- Subject matter expertise in health care strategy, global healthcare payment systems, global health policy, coverage and payment development, payer relations, medical policy development, and HTA management.
- Excellent teamwork skills with proven ability to collaborate and facilitate across multiple disciplines in a cross-functional matrix organization.
- Self-starter, capable of significant autonomy, can create structure within ambiguity.
- Results-oriented, self-confident, and able to react quickly under pressure.
- Strong presentation skills, in front of senior internal and external audiences.
- Excellent prioritization, project management and analytical skills.
- Preferred location(s): Singapore. Ability to travel up to 30%.
- Multi-lingual in relevant regional language and English is highly desired.
