Job Description
Primary Function of Position
Provide tactical and strategic oversight to the finished goods warehouse functions in support of established safety, quality, service level, financial and efficiency goals. The position will develop operational processes and goals as well as measure performance for work activities that include receiving, put away, kitting, Kanban, finished product packing, shipping and inventory control. Additionally, this position will be responsible for supporting the business with material storage, controls, capacity and capability planning as necessary to scale with growth of business. Primary
Essential Job Duties
- Supervises a team of individual contributors with functional responsibility for performing ongoing receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, replenishment route running, inventory control and/or packing duties.
- Schedules work activities and assignments, efficiently allocates available resources for shift coverage and coordinates operating coverage plans with other departments.
- People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team of people, delegate work and explain ideas.
- Hire, train, develop, and motivate warehouse personnel to follow procedures, meet high quality standards, production schedules, operations dept goals, and productivity requirements.
- Anticipates opportunities for development of self and staff.
- Develops talent development plans in conjunction with Human Resources and other functional groups as needed.
- Develop and maintains key operational performance metrics, which are utilized to hold employees accountable for all day-to-day activities.
- Enhance the 9 block and succession plan.
- Establish goals and career expectations with TAP and IDP
- Writes and delivers annual performance reviews.
- Develops and maintains all policies and procedures that are specific to plant warehousing.
- Ensures policies and procedures as designated for warehousing are followed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Develop continuous improvement projects to improve ability to scale to support sustained business growth.
- Ensures material storage practices and related equipment is in keeping with local, state, and OSHA regulations.
- Works and communicates directly with Finance and functional management to develop and meet operational budgets for headcount, depreciation and cost center spending.
- Resolves bottlenecks and other operational problems that prevent a timely and efficient handling of inbound and/or outbound orders (e.g. purchase order receipts and fulfillment of interplant stock transport orders).
- Conducts analysis as required to investigate and determine root cause of compliance, quality or other performance failures and implements corrective actions as warranted.
- Support internal and external audits, cycle count program in coordination with Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Production Planning functions.
- Manage and effectively executes exception activities as required by warehouse function (e.g.
- processing of urgent material receipts, inventory purges, rapid replenishment of short materials to manufacturing work center(s) etc.).
- Establish a culture that promotes transparency, positivity, and high levels of engagement to drive team and business goals.
- Secondary Responsibilities: Actively benchmarks and leverages lean oriented tools such 5S and Six Sigma to eliminate waste and help error proof transitional work.
- Leads implementation of projects that lead to operational improvement goals and objectives (e.g., throughput, transaction accuracy, process controls, ergonomic, layout and other process improvement initiatives).
- Owns management of workforce capacity and material space requirements planning processes.
- Responsible for developing 1–3-year operating models for the warehouse and inventory control functions.
- Management of operations and resourcing necessary to support satellite warehouse locations.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a warehouse environment associated with a production facility.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and supervise operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess strong organizational skills to meet deadlines, assist staff in prioritizing work and handle multiple projects.
- Must be able to apply sound judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with a variety of routine issues.
- Ability to handle conflict well and give positive and negative feedback along with managing performance issues.
- Experience in leveraging lean process tools such as Six Sigma and 5S.
Required Education and Training
- High School Diploma.
- Understanding of Warehouse and OSHA Safety procedures.
- Working knowledge of Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operating procedures.
Working Conditions
- Warehouse environment. Facility is 130,000 square feet and climate controlled.
- Must be able to stand for periods up to 8+ hours.
- Must be able to walk over 10,000 steps per day depending on operational needs.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of people management experience.
- Experienced with organizing unstructured data to support proposals or operational plans.
- APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certification and ability to learn new software systems quickly.
- Skilled in MS Office suite, WMS, Access and/or SQL database experience.
- Must have Agile and SAP experience.

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
