Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Employee Relations and Compliance Specialist in Spain is responsible for managing employee relations and ensuring the company complies with Spanish labor laws. This involves handling grievances, disciplinary issues, and investigations, developing and updating HR policies, and providing guidance to managers. A key part of the role is to ensure HR compliance with all legal requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for managers and HR on issues like grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary actions.
    • Lead investigations into misconduct or employee relations matters, ensuring confidentiality and fairness.
    • Guide managers on employee relations, ensuring alignment with internal policies and legal frameworks.
    • Coach HR partners and managers on employee relations best practices.
  • HR Compliance:
    • Ensure company policies and procedures comply with Spanish and EU labor laws.
    • Stay up to date on legal requirements, including data protection, equality plans, and labor law changes.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks.
    • Foster trustful cooperation with the works council, ensuring the creation and updating of company agreements and company regulations reflecting Intuitive’s philosophy.
  • Policy and Process Development:
    • Help develop and implement HR policies, codes of conduct, and disciplinary procedures, with an emphasis on fairness and organizational consistency.
    • Ensure company-wide awareness, understanding and consistent application of ER and compliance policies.
    • Oversee the end-to-end journey of managing and maintaining employment contracts templates and terminations. 

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Experience:
    • Several years of experience in employee relations, HR compliance, or employment law, in Spain
    • Experience with Spanish works council interaction.
  • Legal Knowledge:
    • Strong knowledge of Spanish employment law and regulations.
    • Strong knowledge of Spanish Workers' Statute (Estatuto de los Trabajadores)
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Experience with conflict resolution and investigations.
    • Proficiency in Spanish and English (professional level) is required.
    • Teamwork and collaboration skills, along with the ability to work independently.
