Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The primary function of an Intuitive Surgical Area Sales Manager is to drive sales growth and market adoption of the daVinci™ Surgical System include greenfield hospitals and existing hospitals within assigned geographic territory. This requires several capabilities including expert-level knowledge in the use of surgical robotics, the ability to build a team of advocates within hospitals, strong capital selling skills, and enough tenacity to ensure sales objectives are met on a
consistent basis. Intuitive Area Sales Managers are expected to provide an extraordinary degree of information gathering and presenting to buying teams throughout the capital equipment purchasing process.
Essential Job Duties
1. Sales Planning & Execution:
• Developing and implementing sales strategies to achieve or exceed sales targets for robotic surgical products.
• Track and manage the complex sales process of da Vinci surgical systems and
ensure sales are completed on time.
2. Account Management:
• Building and maintain strong partnership with hospitals, surgeons, administrators,
and other key stakeholders.
• Manage existing accounts and identify opportunities for expansion or increased
product usage.
3. Business Development:
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities, expanding the installed
base, and increasing clinical utilization.
• Present Intuitive products to prospective clients and answer detailed product-
related questions.
4. Customer Management:
• Engaging and educating customers on clinical value, strategic value and economic
value, through technical presentations, business alignment meetings, system test
drives, marketing events.
• Coordinate product demonstrations, workshops, and training sessions for
surgeons, operating room staff, and hospital administrators.
5. Collaboration:
• Working closely with clinical sales, marketing, and enable team to ensure
comprehensive customer service and satisfaction.
• Communication between customer sites and Intuitive Surgical internal
management to give customer feedback and concerns.
6. Market Analysis and Forecasting:
• Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and technology adoption rates in the
assigned territory.
• Providing regular sales forecasts, account updates, and market intelligence to
management.

• Achieve quarterly sales targets.
7. Customer Support:
• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, helping resolve issues related to
product performance, service, or training.
• Serve as the point of contact for post-sale support and ongoing customer
engagement.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
1. 8+ years sales experience in medical devices or capital sales is preferred
2. Knowledge of the operating room environment
3. Develop expert level knowledge of primary OR procedures.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
5. Proven successful track record in capital medical equipment sales and key account
experience
6. Ability to travel up to 50%, dependent upon account distribution
7. Fluent in English and Mandarin as required
Required Education and Training
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

• Success in introducing new technologies to the market is a plus
