Overview

The Data Center Operations Manager - Facilities Workforce is responsible for the execution, performance, and compliance of the on-site facilities technician workforce supporting an Oracle data center in Abilene, Texas.

This role requires strong data center facilities and critical environment background but does not own or operate building systems and is not accountable for facility uptime, MEP system performance, or infrastructure reliability. Instead, the manager focuses on schedule adherence, consultant performance, safety, SOP compliance, hiring excellence, and training
execution, ensuring that facilities technicians are qualified, prepared, and operating to
Oracle standards at all times.

The Operations Manager acts as the primary operational leader for workforce quality and day-to-day execution, partnering closely with Oracle Critical Facilities leadership and engineering teams who retain responsibility for systems, tools, and infrastructure availability.

Responsibilities

Workforce Operations & Schedule Execution
• Own day-to-day execution of technician schedules, coverage models, shift adherence, and staffing plans.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels by role, shift, and skill set to support site operations.
• Proactively identify coverage gaps, performance risks, or execution issues and drive resolution.
Consultant Performance Management
• Lead ongoing performance reviews for facilities technicians and operations consultants.
• Address performance issues through coaching, corrective action plans, and escalation as needed.
• Recognize high performers and support advancement or role progression where appropriate.
Hiring, Interviewing & Vetting
• Lead interviewing, technical vetting, and selection of top-tier facilities technicians.
• Ensure candidates demonstrate appropriate data center / critical facilities knowledge, safety awareness, and operational discipline.
• Partner with recruiting and regional leadership to maintain a strong hiring pipeline aligned to site needs.
• SOP, Safety & Compliance Adherence
• Ensure all technicians follow approved SOPs, MOPs, safety procedures, and site policies.
• Reinforce safe work practices including LOTO, high-energy environments, and escalation protocols.
• Monitor field execution and intervene when standards are not being met.
• Support audits, site walk-throughs, and compliance reviews in coordination with Oracle teams.
Training, Onboarding & Workforce Readiness
• Partner with the internal onboarding team, approved third-party training vendors, and Oracle site leadership to plan and execute technician onboarding and ongoing training.
• Ensure all new hires complete required role-based, safety, and site-specific training prior to independent work.
• Coordinate training schedules, certifications, and refreshers to maintain workforce readiness and compliance.
• Identify skill gaps, performance trends, or training deficiencies and work with partners to implement corrective or supplemental training.
• Support knowledge transfer, shadowing, and on-the-job coaching to reinforce operational standards and safe work practices.
Operational Partnership & Reporting
• Act as the primary point of contact for workforce execution at the site.
• Partner closely with Oracle Critical Facilities Managers, Engineers, and Safety teams.
• Track and report key metrics such as schedule adherence, staffing, training completion, and performance trends.
• Escalate risks and issues that could impact safe or effective operations

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations, or equivalent experience.
