Solutions Architect

Overview

This role within the Applied Engineering Practice is focused on the developing business and requires the use of engineering knowledge, experience, and judgement to solution projects for the aero space industry based on customer inputs. Establishes and maintains competencies in technologies critical to support execution of the program's strategic plan and roadmaps. Promotes standardization and use of best design practices and continuous improvement of programs. Champions systematic problem solving, data-driven decision making, and project management. Reports team status on a regular cadence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop service-based business within the Aerospace industry through scoping calls with potential clients, training, proposal generation, client presentation, content development, etc.
  • Responsible for the technical design, technical content (architecture and design), integrity and quality of solution and how they impact the business outcomes.
  • Ensures processes and procedures meet customer requirements as well as develop any necessary changes to internal engineering processes to meet internal and external expectations.
  • Communicate project and statuses with supervisor and customer on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Review and analyze project specifications to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Create, read, and analyze engineering reports, perform calculations if necessary.
  • Design scalable, high availability solutions for engineering-based projects or programs.
  • Strategize with business and technical stakeholders on solution feasibility and conceptual designs.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to refine solution requirements and designs and resolve issues.
  • Assesses all project information to understand the scope, the current state and business environment, objectives, and priorities.
  • Work with the PM, Analysts, and Pricing Teams for project budgets and pricing.
  • Travel as needed, attend trade shows to engage with potential and existing partners.

Qualifications

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • 10-15 years of experience within the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • Understanding of basic engineering principles (material properties, strength testing, fluid dynamics, FEA, etc.)
  • High energy, fast paced, entrepreneurial thinking leader
  • Project management and leadership experience
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Detail oriented, high organizational skills, excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to learn and desire to improve
  • Capable of saying the same thing using different words for different types of audiences,
  • Possesses an understanding of electric engineering for the electric utility industry business' processes in order to create a cohesive vision of a usable product.
