Telco Storage Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Telco Storage Engineer responsible for supporting, operating, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise and telecom-grade storage infrastructure across service provider, Telco Cloud, data center, and large enterprise environments. The role requires strong hands-on experience in Ceph storage, SAN, NAS, object storage, block storage, storage replication, backup storage integration, capacity management, performance tuning, and high-availability storage operations. The candidate should also have basic working knowledge of Telco network concepts to coordinate effectively with network teams during storage connectivity, service assurance, and infrastructure troubleshooting activities. Experience with software-defined storage platforms such as Ceph, storage services for OpenStack/OpenShift environments, SAN fabrics, enterprise storage arrays, monitoring tools, incident/change/problem management, and operational documentation will be important for delivering stable, resilient, scalable, and secure storage services.

Ceph Storage Administration
- Operate, support, and troubleshoot Ceph storage clusters in telecom-grade and enterprise environments.
- Manage Ceph components including monitors, managers, OSDs, pools, placement groups, CRUSH maps, RBD, CephFS, and object gateway services where applicable.
- Support Ceph storage services for block, file, and object use cases across Telco Cloud and infrastructure platforms.
- Monitor Ceph cluster health, capacity, performance, replication status, and data placement.
- Perform Ceph cluster expansion, disk replacement, rebalancing, recovery, tuning, patching, and lifecycle activities.
- Troubleshoot Ceph-related performance, availability, latency, data replication, and storage access issues.
- Support Ceph storage integration with OpenStack, OpenShift, Kubernetes, virtualization platforms, and telecom workloads.
- Operate and support enterprise storage platforms across SAN, NAS, object, and block storage environments.
- Manage storage provisioning, LUN creation, masking, mapping, zoning coordination, volume management, file shares, quotas, and access controls.
- Support storage arrays and platforms such as Dell EMC PowerMax, PowerFlex, Unity, Isilon, ECS, HPE Storage, Huawei OceanStor, Pure Storage, and equivalent enterprise storage technologies.
- Perform storage allocation, capacity planning, utilization tracking, performance monitoring, and storage optimization.
- Support high-availability and resilient storage designs across multiple data centers.
- Coordinate with server, database, network, backup, security, application, and Telco Cloud teams for end-to-end storage service delivery.
- Maintain limited but practical understanding of Telco network concepts required for storage operations and cross-domain troubleshooting.
- Understand basic concepts of IP networking, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, NTP, firewall dependencies, load balancer dependencies, and network reachability checks.
- Coordinate with network teams for storage connectivity issues involving SAN, NAS, object storage, replication, backup traffic, and Telco Cloud workloads.
- Support basic validation of storage network paths, latency, packet loss, MTU, port reachability, and connectivity dependencies during incidents and changes.
- Work with Telco Cloud and network teams to understand high-level dependencies across underlay network, overlay network, storage network, and service assurance platforms.
- Administer SAN storage environments including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, zoning, multipathing, host connectivity, and fabric-level troubleshooting.
- Support SAN switches such as Cisco MDS and Brocade, including zoning, ISL, port status checks, and connectivity validation.
- Manage NAS services including file shares, NFS, SMB/CIFS, permissions, snapshots, quotas, and file-level access requirements.
- Support object storage services for application, backup, archival, and cloud-native use cases.
- Manage block storage services for virtualization, database, OpenStack Cinder, Kubernetes persistent volumes, and Telco Cloud workloads.
- Troubleshoot host-to-storage connectivity issues, path failures, latency, throughput degradation, and storage access errors.
- Support backup storage integration with enterprise backup platforms and storage targets.
- Coordinate with backup teams for storage availability, backup performance, retention requirements, and recovery readiness.
- Support storage replication, snapshots, clones, consistency groups, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Validate storage-level resiliency, replication health, and recovery procedures.
- Support data-at-rest encryption, access control, secure storage operations, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in DR drills, failover/failback validation, and recovery documentation.
- Support storage services used by Telco Cloud platforms including OpenStack, OpenShift, Kubernetes, virtualization, CNF, and VNF workloads.
- Work with Telco Cloud concepts such as carrier-grade availability, high-throughput workloads, low-latency services, multi-tenant platforms, lifecycle operations, and service assurance.
- Coordinate with Telco Cloud, compute, network, security, application, platform, service assurance, and NOC teams for incident resolution and service restoration.
- Support platform-converged storage and software-defined storage operations aligned with telecom-grade reliability, scalability, and resiliency expectations.
- Participate in Telco Cloud migration, transformation, transition, service onboarding, hardware refresh, storage consolidation, and operational handover activities.
- Maintain storage documentation including storage topology, capacity reports, SOPs, implementation plans, rollback plans, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
- Handle incident, change, request, and problem management activities in an ITIL-aligned operations model.
- Perform storage provisioning, decommissioning, patching, firmware upgrades, capacity reviews, and health checks.
- Participate in maintenance activities, on-call support, and critical incident response when required.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement preventive actions.
- Prepare and maintain operational documentation, knowledge articles, SOPs, and handover documents.
- Collaborate with global teams across infrastructure, application, security, Telco Cloud, and service management functions.
Required Skills
- Strong Telco Storage experience across Ceph, SAN, NAS, object storage, block storage, backup storage, and enterprise storage operations.
- Hands-on experience in Ceph storage administration including cluster health, OSD, MON, MGR, pools, placement groups, CRUSH map, RBD, CephFS, and RGW.
- Experience supporting Ceph storage integration with OpenStack, OpenShift, Kubernetes, virtualization platforms, and Telco Cloud workloads.
- Basic working knowledge of Telco network concepts including IP networking, VLANs, routing, switching, firewall dependencies, DNS, NTP, MTU, latency, and network reachability checks.
- Ability to coordinate with network teams for storage connectivity, replication, backup traffic, Telco Cloud workload access, and service assurance troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of storage provisioning, LUN masking, mapping, zoning, multipathing, host connectivity, snapshots, clones, replication, and DR.
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms such as Dell EMC PowerMax, PowerFlex, Unity, Isilon, ECS, HPE Storage, Huawei OceanStor, Pure Storage, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience with SAN switch administration and troubleshooting using Cisco MDS, Brocade, or equivalent SAN fabric technologies.
- Strong understanding of NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, object storage, block storage, RAID, erasure coding, replication, and storage tiering.
- Experience supporting high-availability, scalable, resilient, and secure storage architectures.
- Knowledge of storage monitoring, capacity planning, performance analysis, and storage optimization.
- Experience with incident, change, problem management, RCA, and operational documentation.
- Ability to work in production environments with 24x7 support, on-call rotation, and critical incident handling.
