Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler who can analyse and understand the existing customer data and analytics models on SQL Server, and design efficient data models for Snowflake. This individual will work closely with multiple Business Analysts to gather requirements and translate them into optimized data structures, ensuring scalability and compliance with industry standards.
A strong understanding of Insurance domain concepts-including Specialized Insurance, London Market, and Regulatory Data-is essential for success in this role.

Your role
In the role of a Data Modelling Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design and transformation of enterprise data models to support scalable, high-performance analytics and reporting solutions. You will analyse existing data models built on SQL Server and guide the development of optimized structures on Snowflake, ensuring alignment with business requirements and enterprise standards.

You will collaborate with Business Analysts and cross-functional teams to translate complex reporting and analytics needs into efficient, well-governed data models. Your leadership will be key in identifying gaps, driving improvements, and implementing best practices in dimensional modelling, normalization, and metadata management.
A strong understanding of the Insurance domain-including Specialized Insurance, London Market operations, and Regulatory Data-is essential. You will apply this domain expertise to ensure that data models accurately reflect business processes and regulatory obligations.
As a lead, you will contribute to architecture reviews, mentor junior data modelers, and support data governance initiatives. You will also play a role in documentation, knowledge sharing, and capability building across the data modelling practice.
Your work will enable the organization to build a robust foundation for analytics, improve data quality, and support strategic decision-making through well-structured, scalable, and domain-aligned data models.
Responsibilities

  • Analyse and document the current data model in SQL Server for customer data and analytics.
  • Design and implement new data models or modify existing ones for Snowflake.
  • Ensure models adhere to best practices for normalization, performance, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to implement models effectively.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts to understand business requirements.
  • Translate functional requirements into logical and physical data models.
  • Provide impact analysis for changes to existing models and propose efficient solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of Insurance domain, including:
  • Specialized Insurance products.
  • London Market practices.
  • Regulatory and compliance data requirements.
  • Ensure data models align with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
Required
  • 5+ years of experience in data modeling and database design.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server and Snowflake data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation.
  • Experience in data architecture principles and data governance.
  • Solid understanding of Insurance domain concepts (Specialized Insurance, London Market, Regulatory Data).
Preferred
  • Experience with ETL tools and data integration processes.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and cloud data platforms.
  • Exposure to Fivetran, SSIS, or Snowflake advanced features.
