About the Role:
We are expanding our Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities for the Utility industry to support increasing demand driven by grid modernization, reliability, customer experience transformation, decarbonization, and regulatory complexity. The Sr Consultant - Utilities AI will play a large role in shaping and delivering AI-enabled transformation programs for electric, gas, water, wastewater, and renewable utilities. This role requires deep expertise in AI, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation, combined with experience delivering large-scale system integration programs across core utility platforms and operational systems. The role reports into the firm's AI leadership and partners closely with Utilities, Digital, Cloud, Data, and Change Management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Practice Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a key AI resource within the Utilities & Energy practice, contributing to strategy, growth, and market differentiation.
- Help leadership define, evolve Utilities AI vision, roadmap, and offerings, aligned to industry priorities: reliability, affordability, resilience, sustainability.
- Help Shape reusable AI assets, accelerators, and solution frameworks applicable across utility platforms and vendors.

- Act as a trusted advisor to utility executives on AI-led business and operational transformation.
- Identify and prioritize high-impact AI use cases across the utility value chain, including:
- Asset management and predictive maintenance
- Grid operations, outage prediction, and restoration
- Load, demand, and renewable forecasting
- Customer operations, billing, and contact centers
- Field service and workforce optimization
- Finance, regulatory reporting, and risk management
- Assess current-state processes, data, systems, and operating models to define future-state capabilities and roadmaps.
- Help with the design of end-to-end AI solutions integrated with utility enterprise and operational systems, including:
- SAP IS-U / S/4HANA Utilities
- Oracle CC&B / MDM
- Salesforce (Service, Experience, Energy & Utilities Cloud)
- Grid Operations, ADMS, OMS, EMS
- AMI / Smart Metering platforms
- Asset Management, EAM, GIS
- Help define AI architectures, data pipelines, and infrastructure requirements, ensuring scalability, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in establishing and operationalizing Utility AI Centers of Excellence (CoEs), including governance, operating models, standards, and value tracking
- Assist in large, complex, multi-year transformation programs from strategy through implementation and stabilization.
- Define and manage to-be process and system designs, including creation and maintenance of:
- Process Design Documents (PDDs)
- Solution Design Documents (SDDs)
- Guide client IT organizations in setting up AI and Automation environments, including monitoring, controls, and operational readiness.
- Lead globally distributed delivery teams across onshore and offshore models.
- Mentor, coach, and develop consultants across AI, Utilities, and platform domains.
- Support large deal pursuits and proposal development for AI-enabled utility transformation programs.
- Define AI use cases, implementation approaches, assumptions, and level-of-effort estimates.
- Collaborate with Change Management and Organizational Transformation teams to design adoption strategies.
- Support utility leaders and workforces in embedding AI-driven ways of working into day-to-day operations.
- Author and contribute to industry points of view, white papers, and case studies focused on AI in Utilities.
- Stay current on utility industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies, translating them into actionable client offerings
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of progressive experience in a client-facing role within a large consulting firm, system integrator, or utility organization.
- Direct experience in the Utilities or Energy industry (electric, gas, water, wastewater, renewables).
- 6+ years of experience leading consulting or delivery teams for AI, analytics, or intelligent automation initiatives.
- 4+ years of experience in advanced analytics and predictive modeling, including machine learning techniques.
- 2+ years of experience delivering intelligent automation solutions, including RPA, low-code platforms, OCR, chatbots/virtual assistants, NLP, and ML.
- 2+ years of experience working with utility enterprise or operational systems, such as billing, CIS, MDM, grid, AMI, asset, or GIS platforms.
- 2+ years of experience delivering programs using Agile methodologies.
- Experience working with globally distributed delivery teams.
- Skilled in using AI tools such as Claude, MS Co-Pilot
- Strong executive communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and scale high-performing teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa support.
