Senior Legal Counsel

Infosys Ltd. a global IT Services company with more than 200,000 employees and 10+ billion dollars in annual revenue, is seeking a attorney to join the commercial transactions group of our Legal department, with responsibility for the Americas Sales region. This position will support the Infosys Sales teams in Latin America, United States and Canada. The position will report to the Head of the Americas Legal team and will be primarily responsible for the following: negotiating various agreements with external clients and vendors; providing legal and business counsel to internal clients to resolve issues; managing external counsel (as applicable); ensuring that all agreements are concluded in accordance with Infosys' corporate risk parameters and policies and working or leading various department and organization projects as assigned. This position may also have the responsibility of managing junior attorneys on the Americas Legal team.

Infosys provides services to a broad range of customers including, but not limited to the following industries, financial services, healthcare, consumer products, energy and utilities, media and communications. The candidate should have experience contracting with customers in these areas, a good working knowledge of the issues that frequently arise and familiarity with the laws and regulations that are associated with these industries.
Ideal background for this position would also include employment/ labor law experience, as this position will also support the Americas Employment Legal team as the Latin American local liaison for our key jurisdictions, such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Costa Rica. This support could include day-to-day employment and labor law counseling to HR, Compliance, and business stakeholders across these jurisdictions. Additional responsibilities could include overseeing employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings; drafting, reviewing, and updating employment agreements, handbooks, compliance programs, and workforce policies.

  • A minimum of 8 years' legal work experience after law school graduation.
  • JD or master's degree from an accredited law school; with strong academic performance.
  • Must be a member of a State Bar or licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where the position is located.
  • Prior experience working and supporting LATAM region clients and customers, specifically in the following countries: Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica and others.
  • Blend of relevant law firm and in-house experience; preferably transactional IP/IT focused with at least 7 years of prior in-house experience.
  • Experience with litigation (including mediation and arbitration); responding to complaints; drafting settlement agreements; etc.
  • Excellent drafting skills: demonstrated experience with commercial transactions, specifically the drafting and negotiation of, but not limited to, the following types of agreements: 1) complex master outsourcing services and technology-related agreements; 2) software licensing agreements; 3) software reseller and services agreements; 4) sponsorship and marketing agreements; 5) teaming agreements; 6) RFPs and RFIs; 7) settlement agreements ; 8) non-disclosure agreements; 9) statement of work(s) ; 10) subcontractor agreements; and 11) cloud hosted services agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel HR teams and business leaders in fast-paced environments.

Familiarity with regional statutory requirements related to employee classification, hiring and termination processes, workplace policies, compensation and benefits, collective labor frameworks, and compliance with evolving local labor regulations.
  • Experience handling internal investigations, addressing employee disputes, interpreting country-specific labor codes, and supporting cross-border workforce practices in accordance with local legal standards.
Experience managing external counsel and overseeing employment disputes, administrative proceedings, or litigation.
  • Background in outsourcing, information technology, data privacy, intellectual property, software licensing, export control compliance, SaaS, dispute/conflict resolution and litigation (preferred). Familiarity with regional laws and regulations related to a IT Services provider in Mexico.
  • Project Management Skills - experience overseeing and closing multiple projects and transactions simultaneously. Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-based and demanding work environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a ability to think "outside the box". Ability to work independently and as part of a team with rapidly changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Commitment to ethics and integrity; professionalism and attention to detail and the ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients.
  • Ability to identify and manage legal and business risk.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in Spanish and English (fluency in Portuguese is a plus)
  • Sense of humor.
  • Approx. 15 - 20% - business travel may be required
