Your role
We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Commerce (Hybris) Backend Developer to join our team as a Senior Associate Consultant. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize backend components for enterprise-grade eCommerce platforms using SAP Commerce (Hybris), Java, and Spring Framework. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Architects, QAs, and DevOps teams) to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that meet business and technical requirements and help raise the bar in stability, performance, and operability with strong focus on Incident / Problem Management, Analytics/Observability, and deep debugging.
Must Have:
Backend Engineering & Delivery
- 4-7 years of experience in backend development with at least 3+ years in SAP Commerce Cloud.
- Design and develop backend features and extensions on SAP Commerce (Hybris) using Java and Spring (Core/DI, MVC, Data, Security as applicable).
- Implement OCC/REST APIs, Backoffice customizations, Cronjobs, Impex/data modelling, flexible search, and integration with external systems (ERP, CRM, OMS, PIM, Payment Gateways , Search).
- Optimize application performance (caching strategies, query tuning, object graph reduction, pool sizing) and scalability (horizontal scaling, async processing, back-pressure).
- Experience with Maven, Git, Jenkins, and JIRA & Confluence.
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) and ORM tools (e.g., Hibernate).

- Ensure code quality with unit/integration tests (JUnit/Mockito), code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines; uphold clean architecture & SOLID practices.
- Perform systematic debugging (heap/thread analysis, GC tuning, SQL/FS queries, index usage, deadlock detection).
- Perform SQL query analysis and tuning; optimize indexes and long-running transactions on MySQL/Aurora.
- Ensure security and compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS for payment flows) and champion secure coding practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
Incident and Problem Management
- Manage the full incident lifecycle: detection, triage, resolution, and communication within agreed SLAs.
- Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to restore services quickly and minimize business impact.
- Maintain accurate incident logs and ensure timely escalation when required.
- Implement hotfixes safely (feature flags, canary, rollback/runbook execution).
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and implement permanent fixes.
- Maintain a Known Error Database (KEDB) and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Drive preventive measures to reduce incident frequency and improve system reliability.
Nice to Have:
- Experience migrating or upgrading SAP Commerce versions; knowledge of Spartacus/Composable storefronts.
- Search tech (Solr/Elasticsearch), Payment integrations (PCI-aware flows), OMS/ERP (SAP S/4HANA) integrations.
- Experience with Kubernetes/ Docker , cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), and GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins .
- APM/observability tools (Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, New Relic, Datadog).
- Experience with tools such as jstack/jmap, profilers, GC logs, APMs, and DB explain plans to isolate and fix hard defects.
- Experience with profiling tools (JProfiler, Dynatrace) for performance tuning.
- Security hardening (OWASP ASVS, secret rotation, token-based auth, mTLS).
- Performance/load testing (JMeter, Gatling); chaos/resilience testing.
