Role Description:
The SAP Basis Lead will be responsible for leading the SAP Basis track in a RISE with SAP transformation program, overseeing the migration of SAP landscapes to S/4HANA Private/Public Cloud, ensuring seamless transition, stability, performance, and alignment with SAP's Cloud-first and Clean Core principles.
The role demands strong leadership across conversion, migration, and post-go-live operations, while coordinating with hyperscale, SAP RISE managed services, and cross-functional teams.
Location: Brisbane
Salary: AUD 150,742 - 171,215 Annual Gross

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Governance
• Lead end-to-end SAP Basis workstream across RISE transformation lifecycle (Discover → Explore → Realize → Deploy → Run)
• Define Basis strategy aligned with RISE architecture and SAP Activate methodology
• Own planning, execution, risk mitigation, and governance for all Basis activities
• Manage onsite/offshore teams and ensure SLA-driven delivery
2. RISE Transformation Execution
• Drive technical migration to SAP S/4HANA (RISE Private/Public Cloud) including:
- System conversions (SUM/DMO, lift & shift, tenant copy)
- Landscape transformation and simplification
• Ensure alignment with SAP Cloud ALM and RISE operating model
3. SAP Landscape & Cloud Management
• Oversee hybrid landscape including:
- S/4HANA, ECC (transition phase), BW/4HANA
- SAP BTP, CPI, Cloud Connector, Web Dispatcher
• Manage connectivity, security, and identity integration
4. Technical Operations & Stability
• Ensure end-to-end system administration, performance, and availability
• Oversee:
- System installs, upgrades, patching
- Transport management & release cycles
- Monitoring and performance optimization
5. Collaboration with RISE Ecosystem
• Work closely with:
- SAP RISE managed services (infra, DB, OS handled by SAP)
- Application, functional, and integration teams
- Hyperscale (Azure/AWS/GCP) teams
6. Change, Release & Transport Management
• Lead release governance including:
- Change management processes
- Transport landscape coordination
- Cutover execution and deployment strategy
• Ensure compliance with:
- Security policies and access controls
- Disaster recovery and high availability setups
8. Post-Go-Live & AMS Transition
• Support transition to Application Management Services (AMS)
• Ensure smooth handover, knowledge transfer, and documentation
• Drive stabilization and hyper care support
Essential:
Core Technical
• SAP Basis expertise across:
- ECC → S/4HANA conversions
- SAP RISE (Private Cloud preferred)
- HANA DB administration and migration
- SUM/DMO, system refresh, client copy
- SAP Cloud ALM / SolMan
- SAP BTP, CPI, Cloud Connector
• Experience leading large SAP transformation programs
• Strong stakeholder management (client, SAP, SI partners)
• Exposure to global delivery models and distributed teams
Preferred Certifications
• SAP Certified in:
- SAP HANA / S/4HANA
- SAP Cloud ALM / BTP
Key Success Factors
• Ability to drive complex cloud transformation under RISE model
• Strong coordination between infra (SAP-controlled) and app (SI-controlled) layers
• Deliver stable, secure, and optimized SAP landscape post-migration
Typical Experience Range
• 12-18+ years in SAP Basis
• 3-5+ years as Lead/Architect in transformation programs
