Principal Technology Specialist - IT Services

Job Description:
This role is responsible for architecting and managing enterprise-grade infrastructure across storage, Unix/Linux systems, networking, and virtualization platforms. The architect ensures high availability, performance, scalability, and security across all layers of the IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable storage solutions (SAN, NAS, object storage)
- Manage storage provisioning, performance tuning, and capacity planning
- Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Architect and maintain Unix/Linux server environments (RHEL,SOLARIS, HP U, etc.)
- Perform OS upgrades, patching, and system hardening
- Configure NFS, SMB shares, and manage LUN provisioning
- Automate system tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.)
- Design and implement enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN)
- Configure and manage switches, firewalls, and load balancers
- Ensure network security through segmentation, ACLs, and intrusion prevention systems
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Design and manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, KVM)
- Plan and execute virtual infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansions
- Optimize virtual machine performance, resource allocation, and high availability
- Implement and manage virtual networking, storage integration, and VM backups
- Ensure compliance with licensing, security, and operational standards in virtual environments
- Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to support containerization and hybrid workloads
- Work with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with business needs
- Lead technical reviews, vendor evaluations, and procurement processes
- Maintain documentation for architecture, configurations, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with data security and regulatory standards
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
- 13+ years of experience with architecting and managing enterprise-grade infrastructure across storage platforms
- Expertise in storage technologies (EMC, NetApp, Hitachi)
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and security practices
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux administration and virtualization platforms
- Experience with backup and replication tools
- Certifications: RHCE, CCNP/CCIE, VCP, ITIL, certifications
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers
