Role Overview
Functional PLM Architecture - Business Processes, Data, and Transformation
As a Principal - PLM Functional Architect, you will serve as the functional authority for PLM transformation programs, focusing on business processes, product lifecycle workflows, and functional solution design across PLM platforms - with focus on 3DEXPERIENCE and Siemens Teamcenter.
You will bridge business, engineering, and IT stakeholders, translating requirements into functional architectures and process designs that are enabled by PLM platforms.
Success in this role is defined by your ability to:
• Design end-to-end PLM-enabled business processes
• Define functional architecture and data structures
• Guide program delivery from a functional perspective
• Ensure alignment between business objectives and PLM capabilities

Key Responsibilities
Functional Architecture & Solution Design
• Define end-to-end functional architecture for enterprise PLM implementations
• Translate business, engineering, and IT requirements into functional specifications and solution designs
• Own functional artifacts including:
oBusiness process flows
oCapability models
oProduct data structures and lifecycle definitions
• Ensure alignment with enterprise processes and operating models

Business Process Design & Transformation
• Design and optimize engineering, product development, and manufacturing processes enabled by PLM
• Lead as-is / to-be process mapping and transformation design
• Define target operating models supported by PLM solutions
• Drive adoption of standard PLM capabilities vs customization

Data & Lifecycle Management
• Define product data models, structures, and governance principles
• Establish lifecycle management processes including:
oChange management (ECN/ECR)
oConfiguration management
oBOM management
• Ensure data consistency, traceability, and cross-system alignment

Integration Functional Design
• Define functional requirements for integrations between PLM and adjacent systems (ERP, MES, ALM, CAD)
• Collaborate with technical architects to ensure integration designs meet business process needs
• Validate data flows and process continuity across systems

Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery Support
• Work closely with business stakeholders (engineering, manufacturing, operations) to validate requirements
• Act as the functional lead during design and early delivery phases
• Support configuration and implementation teams by providing functional guidance and clarifications
• Facilitate workshops and design sessions with cross-functional teams

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
• 12-15+ years of experience in PLM consulting, functional architecture, or implementation
• Strong functional expertise in 3DEXPERIENCE and/or Siemens Teamcenter
• Proven experience in:
oBusiness process design (engineering / manufacturing)
