About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Hydrocarbon Accounting (HCA) Consultant with over 15 years of experience in the oil & gas value chain, production accounting systems, and IT-enabled HCA solutions. The ideal candidate will provide deep domain expertise, lead solution implementations, and guide energy customers in optimizing their production allocation, measurement, and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities
1. Hydrocarbon Accounting & Production Allocation

  • Design, implement, and optimize end-to-end hydrocarbon accounting processes across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
  • Lead production data management activities including well allocation, metering, loss management, tank inventory, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, fiscal, and contractual obligations.
2. HCA Systems & IT Consulting
  • Implement and support leading HCA solutions such as:
    • Energy Components (EC)
    • Production Accounting Systems (PAS)
    • Tieto HCA, ProdView, Avocet, or similar platforms.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for system configuration and customization.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate HCA systems with upstream SCADA, PI historians, and ERP systems.

3. Data Quality, Governance & Compliance
  • Establish frameworks for data validation, mass balance checks, metering health, and audit trail control.
  • Ensure compliance with regional reporting requirements, partner reporting, and JV accounting rules.
  • Drive continuous improvements in data accuracy, reliability, and traceability.
4. Stakeholder Consulting & Advisory
  • Work with production engineers, reservoir teams, finance, and operations to harmonize HCA processes.
  • Provide expert advisory for:
    • Production optimization
    • Regulatory submissions
    • Digital transformation of hydrocarbon value chains
  • Conduct workshops, training sessions, and solution demonstrations.
5. Project & Delivery Leadership
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams during HCA implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
  • Define project scope, timelines, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and best practices across all phases.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical & Domain Expertise
  • 15+ years of experience in Hydrocarbon Accounting, Production Accounting, or Oil & Gas IT consulting.
  • Deep understanding of the hydrocarbon value chain, including wells, flowlines, separation, processing, transportation, and custody transfer.
  • Strong experience with HCA solutions (e.g., EC, Avocet, Tieto, etc.).
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ISO, OGA, DOE, and fiscal reporting frameworks.
IT & Integration Skills
  • Experience with SCADA, PI System, historians, enterprise data lakes, and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL, data modelling, and system integration concepts.
  • Exposure to cloud modernization of HCA systems is a plus.
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Proven client-facing consulting experience.
  • Ability to lead workshops, manage stakeholders, and influence decision-making.
