Power BI Developer (Desarrollador de Power BI)
Location: Mexico (Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey) - Hybrid as per Infosys Mexico policy (CST/EST time)

Role Overview
As a Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports that transform complex data into meaningful insights. This role partners with business and technical teams to deliver scalable, high - performance analytics solutions that support data - driven decision - making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dashboard & Report Development :
    • Design, build, and deploy high-quality Power BI dashboards and paginated reports to support business analytics and operational reporting.
    • Develop robust semantic data models using Star/Snowflake schema design best practices.

  • Connect to diverse data sources such as Databricks, SQL Server, Azure services, REST APIs, and files.
  • Create efficient Power Query transformations, ensuring proper data shaping for downstream use.
  • Optimize data models for performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Monitoring, Maintenance & Support :
    • Review team monitoring reports and identify dashboard/report issues; create corresponding PBIs/user stories for resolution.
    • Monitor and respond to scheduled data refresh failures, workspace alerts, and data pipeline outages impacting BI reporting.
    • Troubleshoot data discrepancies, refresh issues, and model performance bottlenecks.
    • Work proactively with users to resolve questions posted in team channels (e.g., Zoom, Teams), document issues, and apply fixes.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management :
    • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Cloud teams to ensure data availability, quality, and optimal performance.
    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and intuitive user-facing dashboards.
    • Conduct requirements gathering sessions, UAT support, and user training for Power BI solutions.
  • Governance & Best Practices :
    • Implement and maintain RLS, workspace security, and Power BI governance standards.
    • Ensure proper version control, branching strategies, and PR workflows for Power BI development assets.
    • Maintain documentation for datasets, KPIs, data dictionaries, refresh schedules, and dependencies.

    • Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
    • 6+ years of overall experience in Business Intelligence and data analytics.
    • 4+ years of proven expertise in Power BI development.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication with business users and stakeholders.
    • Understanding of Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.

    Mandatory Skills
    • Strong experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data models, dashboards, and reports using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
    • Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) with an advanced level understanding of calculated columns, measures, time intelligence functions, and performance optimization.
    • Proven experience working with Azure-based data sources, including Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Synapse, and integration with Databricks.
    • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and familiarity with ADF or similar tools for preparing data for reporting.
    • Hands-on experience with Power Query (M language) for data transformation and shaping.
    • Experience with Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace management, and governance practices in Power BI Service.

    Preferred Skills
    • Familiarity with CI/CD practices for Power BI (e.g., deployment pipelines, Git-based workflows).

    Other Requirements
    • Ability to work under tight timelines and manage complex requirements.
    • Flexible to work during CST/EST time zones and meet for hand-over activities to India team if needed.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and a strong team player.
