Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Oracle PL/SQL Architect to lead the design, architecture, optimization, and governance of large-scale Oracle database solutions. This role requires deep technical expertise in PL/SQL, database performance tuning, application data architecture, and enterprise-level solution design. The architect will collaborate with cross-functional development teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture & Design

  • Define end-to-end database architecture, including data models, schemas, packages, and integration patterns.
  • Architect high-performance PL/SQL solutions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Design and review complex data flows, batch processes, ETL pipelines, and data orchestration.
  • Establish best practices for coding standards, performance tuning, and optimization.
  • Drive capacity planning, archiving strategy, partitioning, and indexing strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership during solution design, code reviews, and DB release planning.
2. Development & Technical Expertise
  • Develop and optimize advanced PL/SQL code (packages, procedures, triggers, types, jobs).
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues involving SQL query execution plans, deadlocks, and DB performance bottlenecks.
  • Lead data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) using normalization/denormalization standards.
  • Build and manage large datasets, partitions, materialized views, and parallel processing operations.
  • Oversee versioning and deployment of database objects across environments.
  • Design, develop, and maintain PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, materialized views, triggers, and views.
  • Write efficient SQL queries, perform query optimization and tuning.
  • Develop complex stored procedures to support application logic.
  • Build data migration scripts, ETL logic, and batch processing jobs.
3. Performance Optimization
  • Conduct database performance analysis, including tuning SQL queries, PL/SQL logic, AWR/ASH reports, and DB parameters.
  • Guide teams on indexing strategy, bulk operations, caching, and memory management.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams on Oracle RAC, ASM, and storage optimization.
4. Integration & Solution Leadership
  • Architect and optimize integrations between applications using:

  • Ensure integration stability and data accuracy across domains.

  • 5. Governance & Standards
    • Establish and enforce database development standards, security practices, and coding guidelines.
    • Create and maintain architecture documents, ER diagrams, reference models, and runbooks.
    • Drive compliance with audit, data governance, and regulatory requirements.
    • Enable automation and tooling improvements for CI/CD database pipelines.
    6. Leadership & Collaboration
    • Provide technical leadership to developers, DBAs, and data engineers.
    • Work closely with enterprise architects, application teams, QA, DevOps, and business SMEs.
    • Mentor junior developers and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions.
    • Contribute to architectural reviews, solution blueprints, and roadmap planning.
    Required Skills & Competencies
    Technical Skills
    • 10+ years hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL, including advanced programming concepts.
    • Strong understanding of Oracle 12c/19c, RAC architecture, memory structures, and optimizer internals.
    • Expertise in:
      • SQL performance tuning
      • Execution plan analysis
      • AWR/ASH/ADDM reports
      • Advanced indexing & partitioning
      • Materialized views & query rewrite
    • Strong data modeling & relational theory knowledge.
    • Knowledge of Unix/Linux scripting for automation.
    • Experience working in large-scale OLTP/OLAP systems.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD (Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions).
    • Exposure to cloud ecosystems (Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Oracle DB services).
    Performance Optimization
    • Analyze slow SQL queries and implement performance tuning strategies.
    • Optimize database structures, indexes, and execution plans.
    • Conduct performance analysis and troubleshoot production issues.
    Maintenance & Support
    • Provide L2/L3 support for database components of applications.
    • Troubleshoot data issues, fix bugs, and perform root-cause analysis.
    • Manage deployment scripts across environments (DEV/SIT/UAT/PROD).
    Soft Skills
    • Strong analytical and architectural thinking.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions.
    • Strong documentation and governance discipline.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
    • Oracle Certifications (OCP/OCE/Architect level) preferred.
    Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
    • Experience with microservices data integration, event-driven architectures, or API-driven systems.
    • Knowledge of ETL tools (ODI, Informatica, SSIS, DataStage).
    • Experience in data warehousing or BI/Analytics platforms.
    • Background in DevOps for databases, schema migration tools.
    • Exposure to NoSQL or distributed data platforms.
