Overview A GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining GIS applications and solutions that enable spatial data analysis, visualization, and integration with other systems. The role involves working with geospatial data, programming, and database management to support business and operational needs. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop GIS-based applications using platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS, FME, QGIS, or open-source GIS tools.
- Implement web-based mapping solutions using technologies like JavaScript (Leaflet, OpenLayers), Python, and REST APIs.
- Collect, process, and maintain spatial datasets from various sources.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with standards.
- Integrate GIS solutions with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, etc.).
- Develop APIs and services for spatial data exchange.
- Perform spatial analysis and create maps, dashboards, and reports.
- Support decision-making through geospatial insights.
- Optimize GIS applications for performance and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, FME, QGIS) and spatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience with web development frameworks and GIS libraries.
- Knowledge of geospatial standards (OGC, WMS, WFS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with cloud-based GIS solutions.
- Familiarity with machine learning or spatial data science.
- Understanding of CAD and remote sensing data.
