Facilities Technician - Critical Infrastructure
Function: Facilities & Infrastructure Services
Location: Chile
Work Mode: On-site
Reports to: Facilities Manager / Infrastructure Lead
Role Purpose
To support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of critical facilities infrastructure in accordance with Global Standards, Zero Harm principles, and local regulatory requirements.
The role ensures inspection, monitoring, and first-line maintenance of key systems including HVAC, UPS, power generators, and fire protection systems, supporting business continuity across Data Center, Corporate Office, and Mining Site environments.
Core Responsibilities (All Environments)
Critical Infrastructure Inspections
- Perform scheduled inspections of:
- HVAC / Air Conditioning systems
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
- Power generation systems
- Fire Protection Systems (detection, suppression, alarms)
- Validate operational status, physical condition, and readiness of equipment.
- Identify and report deviations, risks, or abnormal conditions in line with escalation protocols.
Maintenance & Operational Support
- Execute basic and preventive maintenance tasks aligned with approved maintenance plans and procedures.
- Support corrective maintenance activities led by authorized service providers.
- Perform manual refueling and oil replenishment for generators without automatic fuel systems, following safe work procedures.
Alarm Monitoring & Incident Response
- Monitor and respond to system alarms and alerts.
- Perform initial troubleshooting and stabilization actions where authorized.
- Escalate incidents promptly following incident management and reporting requirements.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation
- Comply fully with:
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Standards
- Local Chilean legal and safety requirements
- Apply permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out, energy isolation, and contractor safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and incidents in CMMS or logbooks.
Environment-Specific Requirements
1. Data Center Facilities Technician
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain high-availability infrastructure supporting mission-critical IT operations.
- Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow).
- Support redundancy systems (N+1 / 2N power and cooling).
- Participate in planned maintenance windows and controlled change activities.

2. Corporate Office Facilities Technician
Additional Responsibilities
- Support business-critical office infrastructure ensuring employee safety and comfort.
- Coordinate with vendors for HVAC, electrical, and fire system services.
- Respond promptly to facility alarms and comfort-related issues.
- Support sustainability initiatives (energy efficiency, asset lifespan optimization).

- Support facilities at remote sites, camps, plants, and operational buildings.
- Operate within high-risk environments under strict HSE controls.
- Support continuous operations (24/7) and emergency response scenarios.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Technical qualification in:
- Electrical
- HVAC / Refrigeration
- Electromechanical
- Industrial Maintenance
- or equivalent
Experience
- 2-5 years in Facilities, Critical Infrastructure, or Maintenance roles.
- Hands-on exposure to:
- UPS systems
- Power generators
- HVAC equipment
- Fire protection systems

Desirable Certifications

- Spanish: Fluent (mandatory)
- English: Intermediate to advanced (technical and reporting)
