We're looking for a Data Governance Specialist to join our team.
We're seeking a seasoned Data Governance and Data Migration Specialist with strong experience in Experian data quality, profiling, and enrichment solutions to lead governance initiatives across large-scale data platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data governance frameworks, metadata management, data quality, MDM, and complex data migration programs, with hands-on experience leveraging Experian products to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance..
Location: Sydney

Salary: AUD 108,571 - 119,893 Annual Gross

Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead the design, implementation, and operationalisation of enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards across multiple data domains
Define and enforce data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business and technology stakeholders

Develop and maintain data governance artefacts, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, metadata standards, and data lineage documentation
Lead data migration initiatives across legacy and cloud platforms, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, reconciliation, and auditability
Apply Experian data quality, profiling, matching, enrichment, and validation tools to improve data reliability during migration and BAU operations
Establish and monitor data quality metrics, dashboards, and controls, driving continuous improvement in data health
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business teams to align data governance requirements with solution and integration designs
Ensure data solutions comply with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements, particularly in highly regulated environments (e.g., public sector)
Conduct data readiness assessments and recommend remediation strategies prior to migrations or system transformations
Support cloud migration and modernisation programs, including data movement to cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, OCI, AWS, Azure)
Develop data standards and best practices for data modelling, reference data, master data, and metadata management
Establish governance operating models to support ongoing compliance, quality assurance, and risk mitigation
Work closely with stakeholders to translate business data requirements into enforceable governance and quality controls
Prepare and review documentation for data migration strategies, validation rules, reconciliation approaches, and governance decisions
Assist in presales activities, including discovery workshops, governance assessments, solution proposals, and data strategy presentations
Stay up to date with emerging data governance, migration, and data quality trends, integrating them into enterprise data roadmaps
Mentor and coach junior data governance analysts, data migration specialists, and data engineers, fostering a strong data culture

Essential:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field
12+ years of experience in data governance, data management, and large-scale data migration initiatives
Proven hands-on experience with Experian data solutions (data quality, data profiling, matching, enrichment, validation, or related tooling)
Strong experience delivering end-to-end data migration programs, including planning, execution, reconciliation, and post-migration validation
Deep understanding of data governance frameworks, best practices, and operating models

Preferred:
Prior working experience in the Australian public sector or other highly regulated environments
Demonstrated leadership in large-scale transformation programs involving complex data landscapes
Strong experience with metadata management, data lineage, business glossaries, and MDM concepts
Proven expertise in data quality management, including rule definition, monitoring, and remediation
Experience integrating Experian tools with enterprise data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics environments
Knowledge of privacy, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., data protection regulations and risk controls)
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Azure, AWS)
Strong understanding of integration patterns, data architecture principles, and migration strategies
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance pragmatism and governance rigour
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across business, technical, and executive audiences
Relevant certifications in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or Cloud Technologies are highly desirable
