About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, curious, and hands-on Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to support Android automation initiatives for Peloton digital products. This role is focused on building, maintaining, and scaling automated test solutions. The candidate will work closely with Software Engineers,
Product Managers, and QA stakeholders to improve product quality through strong automation engineering practices.
The ideal candidate is a strong automation engineer with practical coding capability, strong Android automation knowledge, and the ability to independently implement correct technical solutions during interview coding exercises and day-to-day project work.

- Hands-on coding experience with Android, Kotlin, Espresso, or similar Android automation technologies.
- Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Java, or Android-based automation development.
- Practical experience designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining automated test frameworks and test cases.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and clean, readable, maintainable code practices.
- Strong fundamentals in arrays, lists, collections, loops, control flow, functions, classes, and object initialization.
- Ability to independently solve coding challenges during technical interviews and explain the implementation
approach clearly.
- Experience working with engineers to identify test automation scenarios, close automation gaps, and improve coverage.
- Solid understanding of Git and modern software development workflows.
- Experience working in CI environments such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD systems.
- Experience working with cross-functional Scrum or Agile teams.
- Ability to accomplish complex engineering tasks independently.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills for working with global stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Xray, Jira, or equivalent test management platforms.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted tools to support test case generation or automation
productivity.
- Experience with Appium in addition to Espresso is a plus, but Espresso or equivalent hands-on Android automation experience is preferred.
- The candidate must have hands-on coding experience with Android, Kotlin, Espresso, or similar technologies, and must be able to solve coding questions during the technical interview.
- Strong automation engineering and coding capability are more important than manual or functional testing depth for this position
- Experience interacting with REST APIs or GraphQL for test data setup or test validation.
- Experience with Cypress, Playwright, or other modern automation frameworks.
- Experience setting up automation jobs as part of CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with visual test tools such as Percy or Applitools.
In This Role You Will
- Design, implement, and maintain Android automation frameworks, tools, and test suites.
- Build automated coverage for Android applications and help release products with confidence.
- Write production-quality automation code using Kotlin, Java, Espresso, or similar technologies.
- Work with teams to understand automation gaps and implement scalable test coverage.
- Make testing an integral part of the software development process through shift-left quality practices.
- Coordinate automation testing efforts across teams to ensure high-quality feature delivery.
- Review automation code, improve maintainability, and promote engineering best practices.
- Support distributed or offshore automation teams by providing guidance, standards, and technical direction.
- Assist in mentoring and coaching automation engineers where needed
