Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Our Mechanical Engineers participate in the design and development of state-of-the-art CT security scanning equipment. You will be involved in all aspects of mechanical engineering product design and development - from new product concept design through hands-on assembly, manufacturing, and test.
IDSS is a fast-paced, dynamic work environment - you must be self-motivated and able to work independently with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Essential Functions:
• Design, develop, and test CT security scanner system mechanical components, equipment, and peripheral systems
• Generate product development documentation and analysis (e.g. detail drawings, BOMs, design review presentations, tolerance analysis, test reports)
• Assemble prototype hardware, troubleshoot, and identify corrective actions
• Support manufacturing and operations (e.g. develop fixtures, create manufacturing documentation, failure analysis)
• Collaborate with internal engineering and business units, external engineering teams, suppliers, and customers
Required Capabilities:
• Advanced experience using 3D modeling CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
• Mechanical engineering analysis experience, including but not limited to FEA (finite element analysis)
• Ability to read mechanical detail drawings
• Detail drawing experience using GD&T
• Hands-on prototyping and testing abilities
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to continuous process improvement
• Motivated individual able to work with senior engineering staff and independently
• Good organizational skills
• Attention to detail a must
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, preferably Arena PLM
• Experience in a regulated industry environment (e.g. military, aerospace, FDA)
• Experience designing CT equipment
