Technology Advocate Intern (12-16 month )
Introduction
This position is designed for early professional hires, specifically university students, who are eager to learn and grow in the technology and community management field. As a Technology Advocate intern, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the success of the IBM TechXchange team.

Your role and responsibilities
This role is based in Ottawa, Ontario.
The IBM TechXchange Client Advocacy Program is dedicated to fostering technical engagement, learning, and collaboration among developers, IT practitioners, and business professionals. Throughout the year, it organizes an array of webinars, virtual events, and local experiences-such as watsonx Day and Automation and AI Day-to facilitate continuous learning and skill development.
At the heart of IBM TechXchange lies IBM Community, a dynamic platform where users can connect, learn, and engage with one another and IBM experts. This platform offers a wealth of resources, including forums, blogs, tutorials, and events, enabling members to expand their knowledge, share best practices, and collaborate on projects. By actively participating in IBM Community, users can enhance their skills, provide valuable feedback, and help shape the future of IBM products and services.
In addition to IBM Community, IBM TechXchange hosts an annual in-person global conference, where attendees can participate in hands-on labs, technical breakouts, roadmap discussions, and user group networking sessions. These events foster a unique environment for learning, collaboration, and networking, allowing practitioners to deepen their understanding of IBM solutions and connect with like-minded professionals.
To further enrich the learning experience, IBM TechXchange organizes regional experiences through localized roadshows, workshops, and labs. These events ensure that the latest IBM offerings are accessible to practitioners worldwide, empowering them to stay ahead in the ever-evolving technological landscape.
IBM Champions and IBM User Groups are integral components of IBM TechXchange. These programs recognize and empower dedicated community members, fostering a strong ecosystem for technology enthusiasts to deepen their expertise, connect with peers, and contribute to the future of technology.
Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
• Currently enrolled in an accredited University in a relevant program (like Marketing, Commerce, Business, Computer Science, Engineering)
• Available for a 12-16 month internship commencing May 4, 2026
• A strategic, consultative, data-driven mindset
• Passionate about data science, data, analytics, technology or a related field
• Fluent in English; strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Experience with MS Office (like Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge or experience with Airtable, Adobe Products and Event Software
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience with social media platforms
• Familiarity with community management tools, such as Higher Logic, Hivebrite, or Khoros.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
