Technical Architect
Introduction
Our OpenShift on Z team is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the key components of the stack Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Architecture - OpenShift Container Platform (developer services), OpenShift Kubernetes Engine (Cluster services). We closely collaborate with the RedHat and international development teams of IBM (e.g. hardware and firmware development), the global maintainers of Open-Source communities.

Your role and responsibilities
As a Technical Architect, you will define and drive the architecture for enterprise-grade cloud-native solutions leveraging Red Hat OpenShift AI and hybrid cloud platforms.
- Your role involves working with containers, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices to build scalable, resilient, and secure cloud applications.
- To Design systems that can handle enterprise workloads with high availability, auto-scaling, and disaster recovery.
- Implement zero-trust principles, container security, and compliance with industry standards.
- Drive CI/CD pipelines, GitOps practices, and automation for faster delivery.
- Leverage OpenShift AI for model training, deployment, and MLOps workflows.

Required technical and professional expertise
- 15+ years in enterprise architecture and software engineering, with strong experience in cloud-native platforms and container orchestration.
- Strong industrial experience in working with Unix/Linux based products developed using C or C++ or Go Lang/Python programming language.
- Deep expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Linux internals, including virtualization and hypervisors (KVM, z/VM).
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents.
- Strong understanding of performance engineering, scalability, and security for mission-critical workloads.
- Experience in AI/ML model deployment and lifecycle management on cloud platforms.
- Experience in model serving platforms like vLLM and KServe.
- Hands-on knowledge of enterprise servers, firmware, and security configurations.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate architecture decisions to stakeholders and development teams.
- Design scalable, secure, and resilient architectures for containerized workloads on OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Develop architecture roadmaps aligned with business objectives, ensuring compliance, performance, and cost optimization.
- Establish best practices for container orchestration, DevOps pipelines, and cloud-native deployments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with global teams, hardware/firmware engineers, and open-source communities to deliver integrated solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, edge computing, hybrid cloud) and incorporate them into architectural strategies.

- Solid understanding of systems hardware & architecture
- Good understanding operating systems internals/Kernel (Process Management, Memory Management, Virtualization, Scheduling, I/O (Networking & Storage), Security, etc.)
- Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide technical teams.
- Must have an engineering mindset in addressing problems.
