Strategy Consultant

Introduction

You'll use human-centered design principles and stay current with emerging technologies to help clients with business transformation. Your analysis and recommendations will be grounded in understanding both people and technology.

As a strategy consultant in IBM's digital strategy team, you'll engage with senior business executives. You'll combine IBM's unique capabilities in strategy, innovation, design, data analytics, cognitive computing, and technology platforms to create compelling transformation plans.

You'll manage complex client relationships and work closely with customers and their customers to understand real business pain points. Your strategic recommendations will drive change in the digital era while working alongside talented IBM professionals.

Your role and responsibilities

1. Go beyond traditional interviews and focus groups by using modern digital methods to analyze structured and unstructured data
2. Research client organizations and industry value chains to uncover insights
3. Use IBM's research on evolving market trends to help clients explore possibilities based on market and competitive positioning
4. Identify and analyze opportunities and barriers clients face in competitive global markets
5. Develop new business models to turn ideas into reality
6. Improve efficiency and profitability of existing services and products
7. Find the best ways to bring new or existing products and services to market
8. Spot problems, form hypotheses, and execute analysis to create actionable recommendations that inform client strategic agendas

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

1. 2025 recent graduate with bachelor's degree or higher
2. Preferred majors: Computer-related fields (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Communications & Information, Electronic Engineering, AI) or Economics & Management fields (strategy, Management, Finance)
3. Fluent Chinese and English Communication
4. Can solve ambiguous problems with clear logic and provide creative, well-structured solutions
5. Strong quantitative analysis skills - can make recommendations based on data and insights
6. Good at multitasking and meeting deadlines
7. Open to sharing and receiving feedback
8. Excellent communication skills - can explain complex situations clearly and concisely
9. Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with teams and building working relationships with IBM and client teams at all levels
10. Passionate about innovation and open to different perspectives
