Introduction

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend AI Engineer to join our team focused on enhancing product intelligence and automation. This role involves integrating AI capabilities into our product ecosystem, designing scalable backend solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, intelligent features. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in backend development, AI model integration, prompt engineering, and microservices architecture.

Your role and responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Product Owner, Technical Architect, and Product Manager to understand requirements and design scalable backend and AI-integrated solutions.

• Develop and fine-tune prompts to improve AI model accuracy and relevance.

• Build robust pre- and post-processing pipelines to ensure clean data flow and meaningful outputs.

• Monitor and optimize AI model performance for accuracy, latency, and efficiency.

• Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices to seamlessly connect AI services with product components.

• Implement secure, reliable operations with error handling and fallback mechanisms.

• Analyse issues and defect reports using debugging tools and develop fixes or enhancements.

• Troubleshoot interconnectivity, platform performance, and configuration issues across layers.

• Create and review documentation for deployments, recurring issues, SOPs, and knowledge transfer.

• Work closely with DevOps, UX Research, and content teams to identify AI-driven enhancement opportunities.

• Stay current with emerging AI frameworks, tools, and best practices.

Required technical and professional expertise

Required Professional and Technical Expertise:
• 6-9 years of experience in software development using TypeScript and JavaScript.

• Minimum 4 years of experience in frontend technologies and debugging.

• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.

• Experience with debugging tools (LLDB, GDB, PurifyPlus, Sentry, etc.).

• Proficiency in Python programming for backend and AI-related tasks.

• Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face Transformers.

• Experience in prompt engineering and optimizing model outputs.

• Proven experience in designing and maintaining APIs and microservices.

• Knowledge of AI model deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.

• Strong learning ability and adaptability to emerging technologies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise:
• Knowledge of IBM Products and experience with ZOS.

• Comfortable in Linux/Unix environments-commands, shell scripting, and system administration.

• Ability to write and modify shell scripts (Bash, KSH, CSH).

• Experience with install/build scripts, Makefiles, and configuration management.

• Exposure to AI model lifecycle management and integration with product ecosystems.

• Experience working in a global team environment.

• Strong command of English, both written and verbal.

• Experience with Agentic AI development and autonomous agent frameworks.
