SAP PO CPI Consultant

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Your role and responsibilities
The SAP PO/CPI Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining integration solutions using SAP Process Orchestration (PO) and/or SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI). The consultant works closely with business and technical teams to ensure seamless integration between SAP and non-SAP systems, supporting business processes and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Development
- Design and implement integration scenarios using SAP Process Orchestration (PI/PO) and SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI).
- Develop interfaces using IDoc, RFC, SOAP, REST, File, SFTP, OData, and JMS adapters.
- Create and configure Integration Flows (iFlows) in CPI for both cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-on-premise integrations.
- Implement mappings (Graphical, XSLT, Java, Message Mapping) and adapter configurations.
- Ensure proper handling of error monitoring, logging, and reprocessing.
2. Requirement Gathering and Solution Design
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, functional consultants, and architects to gather integration requirements.
- Design end-to-end integration architecture and data flow diagrams.
- Recommend best practices for integration patterns, error handling, and performance optimization.
- Conduct impact analysis and define integration strategies for new and existing systems.
3. Support and Maintenance
- Provide Level 2/3 support for production integration issues in SAP PO/CPI.
- Monitor and troubleshoot interface errors using SAP PO Runtime Workbench, Message Monitor, and CPI monitoring tools.
- Manage incident resolution, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and change management activities.
4. Documentation and Testing
- Prepare technical design documents (TDDs), interface catalogs, and operational guides.
- Develop unit tests, integration tests, and regression tests for all integration scenarios.
- Ensure proper documentation of configuration settings, mappings, and flows.
5. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with SAP Basis, Security, and Functional Teams for deployment and access setup.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal teams.
- Stay up to date with SAP Integration Suite advancements, APIs, and best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and performance optimization sessions
Required education
Associate's Degree/College Diploma
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Hands-on experience with SAP Integration Suite, including Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), API Management, and Open Connectors.
- Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) components such as Event Mesh and Integration Advisor
- SAP Certified Development Associate - SAP Integration Suite / SAP Process Orchestration (PO).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 6-10 years of experience in SAP PO/PI and/or SAP CPI/Integration Suite.
- Strong knowledge of integration protocols (SOAP, REST, HTTP, SFTP, IDoc, JMS, OData).
- Experience with mapping tools (Graphical, XSLT, Java-based).
- Familiarity with API Management, Cloud Connector, and Security concepts (OAuth2, SSL, Certificates).
- Understanding of SAP modules (SD, MM, FI, CO, HCM, SuccessFactors, Ariba, C4C, S/4HANA) and how they integrate.
- Hands-on experience with transport management, version control, and CPI tenants.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
