Your role and responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities of an SAP MDG Architect:
- Solution Design and Architecture:
- Define and create the data models, including entity types, attributes, and relationships, for master data domains.
- Ensure integration of MDG with other SAP modules (e.g., SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA) and non-SAP systems for a seamless flow of master data.
- Business Process Analysis:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements for data governance, data quality, and data management.
- Analyze current master data processes, identify gaps, and propose improvements through SAP MDG solutions.
- Governance and Compliance:
- Establish master data governance processes and workflows, ensuring that they adhere to industry standards and compliance regulations.
- Define rules for data validation, approval workflows, and escalation processes to ensure that master data is maintained consistently.
- Technical Configuration:
- Configure SAP MDG components, including data models, UI customization, and workflows, to meet specific organizational requirements.
- Set up data replication frameworks to distribute master data across multiple systems in the landscape, ensuring data consistency.
- Handle the configuration of data quality, validation, and derivation rules within the MDG framework.
- Data Migration and Integration:
- Plan and oversee the migration of legacy master data into the SAP MDG solution, ensuring data integrity and quality.
- Design interfaces and integration points to ensure seamless data exchange between SAP MDG and other systems such as SAP ERP, S/4HANA, and third-party applications.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization:
- Monitor the performance of the SAP MDG system and optimize processes to ensure efficient data processing, governance workflows, and user interactions.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to master data governance, including performance bottlenecks or data replication failures.
- Stakeholder Management and Communication:
- Collaborate with business, IT teams, and third-party vendors to ensure the successful implementation and continuous operation of SAP MDG.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for SAP MDG, providing guidance and expertise to other team members and stakeholders.
- Engage with data stewards, data owners, and governance councils to align MDG practices with enterprise data governance goals.
- Testing and Validation:
- Design and execute test cases for master data processes, ensuring that the SAP MDG implementation meets functional and technical requirements.
- Validate data workflows, ensuring that governance rules are enforced correctly across the master data lifecycle.
- Training and Documentation:
- Create and deliver training materials for end-users and data stewards to ensure proper use of the SAP MDG system.

- Continuous Improvement and Support:
- Evaluate and implement upgrades, patches, and enhancements to the SAP MDG system, ensuring the solution evolves with the organization's needs.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for any issues that arise within the MDG solution, working with SAP support or internal teams to resolve problems.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
