Product Release Manager

Introduction

The Apptio Product Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the release of product releases and services into production environments. This role ensures that new features, enhancements, and fixes are deployed seamlessly to production environments with minimal disruption to customers. This role requires strong collaboration across engineering, product management, product marketing, customer success, and other teams to deliver high-quality releases and documentation that align with business objectives and customer expectations.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Release Planning & Coordination:
    • Develop and maintain release calendars and release management trackers for Apptio's products and services.
    • Coordinate release activities across multiple teams, including product management, engineering, product marketing, customer success, and other business units.
  • Process Management:
    • Define and enforce release management processes, standards, and best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with change management policies and governance frameworks.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
    • Identify potential risks and conflicts in release schedules and mitigate them proactively.
    • Manage release-related incidents and escalate issues as needed.
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Provide clear communication of release plans, status, and impacts to stakeholders.
    • Maintain internal release documentation to support cross-functional knowledge sharing.
    • Lead release readiness meetings and other release-related conversations to ensure cross-functional alignment and support.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Analyze release performance metrics and implement process improvements.
    • Drive automation and efficiency in release processes where possible.

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in IT release management, software delivery, or related roles.
    • Experience with Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    • Proficiency in release management and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Monday, etc.).

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • PMP and/or PMI-ACP certification or equivalent experience in complex project management.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Technology, or related field.
