Principal IT Network Operations Specialist (Guadalajara)

Introduction

The Principal IT Network Operations Specialist will be responsible for leading the operational strategy and execution of complex enterprise network environments. This role requires advanced expertise in network design, architecture, and operations, including load balancing, firewall management, switching/routing, and hybrid network integration. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability of network systems while driving cloud and segmentation strategies and mentoring technical teams.

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of advanced network architectures, including load balancing, firewall, and switching/routing solutions.

• Develop and execute cloud and segmentation strategies to enhance security and performance.
• Oversee Hybrid Network Integration projects, ensuring seamless connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Manage network operations, including incident response, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and implement cross-platform security measures.
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to align network operations with business objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network operations teams.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, operational procedures, and incident reports.

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

• 10+ years of experience in network operations and engineering within large-scale enterprise environments.

• Strong expertise in load balancing, firewall technologies, and switching/routing (Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, etc.).
• CCNA certification (or higher, e.g., CCNP, CCIE).
• Proven experience in Advanced Design and Network Architecture for complex infrastructures.
• Hands-on experience with Hybrid Network Integration and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, VPNs, and segmentation strategies.
• Strong incident management and performance optimization skills.
• English C1

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Advanced certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent).

• Expertise in network automation and orchestration (Python, Ansible).
• Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies and zero-trust security models.
• Experience with ITIL processes and enterprise change management.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
