Your role and responsibilities

The IBM Cloud Platform Technical Specialist requires expertise and knowledge of IBM Cloud solutions, competitive cloud solutions (strengths and weaknesses) and is accountable for creating demand and working with the Sales Specialist to progress opportunities to close- from OI through OO - in concert with the Sales Specialist. You'll be the go-to subject matter expert, collaborating with colleagues across the wider Sales team - advising and supporting on client engagements throughout the entire sales process.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Client Strategy Development: Develop client strategies for IBM Cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Solution Definition: Define compatible IBM Cloud solutions.
  • Proof of Concept Creation: Provide proof of concepts and simplify complex technical concepts for client understanding.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Building: Build credibility and trust with stakeholders to facilitate the closing of complex Cloud technology deals.

• Owns all technical aspects of the IBM Cloud Platform brand within a defined territory with the goal of expanding IBM cloud consumption to assigned accounts.

• Supports territory strategy and contributes to the account planning process for assigned accounts.

• Maintains strong relationships with IBM Brand Sales Specialists to align sales efforts with offering capability roadmaps.

• Navigates IBM to bring the right technical resources to drive sales wins

• Applies expert level knowledge of select offerings with industry expertise to propose relevant and impactful use cases that address the client's business needs and drive client innovation

• Articulates value proposition for select offerings and how they compare to competitors' offerings

• Leverages virtual and face to face collaboration tools to demonstrate select offerings and create an innovative vision of client success

Required education

High School Diploma/GED

Preferred education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

• Experienced and skilled with IaaS solutions around enterprise applications, application modernization and backup/DR strategies

• Experienced and skilled with PaaS based services - Kubernetes, OpenShift, Serverless, Watson, Cloud Data Services, IOT, and Blockchain, DevOps, Hybrid integration, and Cognitive solutions

• Experienced and skilled with working and teaming with Business Partners.

• Ability to articulate business models, value, pricing, terms.

• Demonstrated ability to establish Cloud Terms of Use knowledge.

• Ability to build and lead Cloud account strategy including articulation of IBM's unique value to the c-suite.

• Cloud Market Knowledge: Proficiency in cloud market knowledge (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc) to provide trusted client advice

• Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Stakeholder Influence: Proven track record of influencing diverse senior stakeholders.

US Citizenship Required.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.

This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
