Global Commodity Manager - Production Procurement
Introduction
This is a sourcing role at IBM focused on Systems Brands (Power, Storage, Mainframe) that provides procurement support to internal and external clients. The position involves managing global suppliers across various production commodities including Memory, SSDs, HDDs, Tape, OEM Components, NIC, Packaging, Mechanical, Thermal, PCB, Interconnect, Power, Contract Manufacturing, and Spare Parts. The role encompasses the full strategic sourcing lifecycle, from initial request through supplier evaluation and relationship management, guided by the IBM Global Procurement Blue Book and company policies. The position requires executing procurement strategies with opportunities for continuous improvement using agile techniques.
Your role and responsibilities
Global Commodity Manager role for sourcing commodities
- Supplier management: Sourcing for new products and developing strategic relationships with them.
- Cost management: End to end supply chain cost, negotiation and analysis for new products and volume production phase.
- Contract Management: Terms and conditions negotiation and maintenance.
- New Products: Collaboration with Development teams for IBM zSystems and Power Brands
- Price negotiations and reconciliations
- Cost management and pricing analysis
- Cost loading into various tools for supply assurance and order management
- Supplier relationship management
- Business controls/compliance and contract management
- New product support
- Executing supplier bids and RFx processes
- Strategy building and execution for new sourcing initiatives
Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Procurement sourcing knowledge extending into financial/accounting expertise
- Understanding of the 7 steps to strategic sourcing
- Deep subject matter expertise in commodity sourcing
- Knowledge of end-to-end sourcing and procurement practices
- Benchmarking and marketplace analysis capabilities
- Proficiency with cognitive tools (Supplier IQ and EPM)
- AI data and tools application for business process enhancement
