Your role and responsibilities

This specialty focuses on supporting end-to-end procurement operations within the SAP Fieldglass platform, ensuring efficient and compliant purchasing activities for contingent labor and services. The Tactical Buyer is responsible for executing purchase order processing and tactical sourcing activities in Fieldglass, managing client requests, negotiating with suppliers, and adhering to IBM Procurement policies. The role requires setting up and maintaining strong relationships with IBM clients and suppliers, applying client-facing skills to manage expectations effectively, and leveraging Fieldglass modules for requisition creation, supplier onboarding, rate card validation, work order management, and invoicing. Proficiency in Fieldglass tools and reporting is essential to minimize negative impact on client experience, while market intelligence and benchmarking should be applied to achieve operational targets. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving purchasing process issues, clearing aged open POs, resolving blocked invoices, and maintaining accurate documentation of supplier and PO-related information within Fieldglass and IBM procurement systems.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Exposure to Commodity Sourcing: Experience working with commodity sourcing, including understanding demand, identifying suppliers, and negotiating contracts. • Data Analysis and Benchmarking: Exposure to data analysis and benchmarking tools and techniques, with the ability to apply insights to inform sourcing decisions. • Industry Knowledge: Experience working with industry-specific knowledge, including understanding market trends, supplier dynamics, and regulatory requirements. • Sourcing Process Management: Exposure to managing the sourcing process, including documentation, auditability, and compliance with organizational policies. • Contract Negotiation: Experience working with contract negotiation, including developing negotiation strategies and achieving optimal outcomes.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Deep Industry Knowledge: Experience working with industry-specific knowledge, including understanding market trends, supplier dynamics, and regulatory requirements, to drive effective sourcing decisions. • Advanced Data Analysis: Exposure to advanced data analysis and benchmarking tools and techniques, with the ability to apply insights to inform complex sourcing decisions. • Strategic Sourcing: Experience with strategic sourcing concepts, including category management, supplier relationship management, and total cost of ownership analysis.
