Electrical Engineer

Introduction

As an Electrical Engineer, you will support electrical design and project operations across the Mid-Hudson Valley (MHV). This role requires the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate deep technical expertise in critical facilities, particularly electrical systems.

Your role and responsibilities

Role and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all technical support regarding the electrical infrastructure to ensure 24/7 reliability, from main substations to individual dedicated electrical equipment panels. Serve as the subject matter expert for all site electrical systems including high-voltage distribution, substations, UPS systems, emergency generators and automatic transfer switch systems.
  • Oversee break/fix maintenance and preventative maintenance of all electrical infrastructure including UPS systems, emergency generators and other critical infrastructure. Develop, review, and approve site technical specifications to ensure compliance and reliability.
  • Have extensive knowledge and experience of data center and critical lab operations. .
  • Interface with local power utilities to arrange scheduled maintenance and outages of site dual electric feeds.
  • Perform electrical system short circuit calculations, protective device coordination studies and arch flash analyses.
  • Provide technical input to all Building Management Systems including troubleshooting, sequence of operations and improvements.
  • Review new project electrical and instrumentation/controls designs, oversee and approve project designs, provide construction and commissioning support.
  • Work closely with all external design engineers on new projects or retrofits of existing areas. Work closely with other site engineers and Full Service Vendor.
  • Author, review and approve all necessary Field Switching Procedures for electrical tie-ins for new equipment or changes to any site electrical infrastructure.
  • Provide technical expertise to all site electrical contractors including Full Service Vendor team.
  • Lead all annual electrical maintenance shutdowns; provide alternate options for site tenants that need to remain operation due to critical lab operations.
  • Troubleshoot all electrical related issues and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with Full Service Vendor.
  • Provide keen input to annual capital plan to continually improve infrastructure reliability.
  • Collaborate with Business Units on new growth initiatives and develop conceptual designs for cost estimation.
  • Analyze power monitoring system data to optimize performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Identify and implement energy savings initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, IEEE, and other applicable codes.

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical systems and facilities operations.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards and compliance.
  • Skilled at power monitoring tools.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, solve problems, and lead teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (Professional Engineer License is a plus).

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
