Software Engineer - Enterprise Technology

3+ months ago London, United Kingdom

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Engineering team in New York City. In this role, you will build the tools and systems that help every HRTer work more effectively. The team owns core platforms used across the firm, including: Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, internal knowledge and project management systems, and the many in-house and third-party services that connect them.

The best internal tooling is invisible, removing friction before users notice it. As HRTers move faster and faster, our quest to eliminate friction from the platforms that everyone interacts with every day only becomes more critical. You will design and write systems that extend these platforms, create new interfaces for key functions like search and access management, and integrate emerging AI tools into the whole ecosystem. This is a hands-on engineering role with the freedom to improve existing systems or build entirely new solutions when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, efficient, and scalable software systems
  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle from ideation to deployment and support
  • Deliver exceptional experiences for internal users by understanding their needs and applying your technical skills to efficiently meet them
  • Find, enhance, or build the best productivity and collaboration systems that allow HRTers to excel at their work
  • Glue a variety of in-house and third-party systems together, customizing an ecosystem for HRT’s highly specific needs
  • Build seamless tooling that proactively removes friction and solves problems before users need to escalate them

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Preparedness for technical interviews in Python
  • Experience with identity and access management or productivity software is a plus
  • Kindness, empathy, and strong collaboration skills
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design principles, and a willingness to teach and mentor others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong judgment and a demonstrated ability to deploy software and features thoughtfully, methodically, and reliably

The estimated base salary range for this position is 150,000 to 250,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
