Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, UI Extensions

Remote

POS-2363

We are seeking a frontend focused Staff Software Engineer to join our team of makers and builders to expand our mission to create a highly extensible developer platform within HubSpot.
About the Team

The Developer Product Group is responsible for the ecosystem of tools and resources that allow external developers to be productive building extensions and integrations on top of HubSpot's platform, and providing internal teams the capabilities needed to enable these developers to use their APIs and resources effectively.

Our focus is on providing value to our customers by enabling the developers supporting them to build the best solutions for their business needs. We're pursuing much deeper flexibility and customizability in our platform and we're looking for highly technical and customer-focused engineers to help drive innovation. This innovation allows us to build the right set of tools that allow developers to deliver value to our customers. This focus currently includes enabling sophisticated CRM UI customizations and expanding extensible surfaces, supporting developers building and deploying rich React applications into HubSpot, creating a cohesive and robust interface across many of HubSpot's internal platforms for third-party development, and other ongoing platform extensibility opportunities.

About the Role

In this role, you'll be hands-on, writing code and contributing to the design, architecture, and implementation of our systems, and will play a key role in shaping our product vision and technical direction through your expertise. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will focus on delivering high-quality, impactful work that sits at the core of our platform's extensibility capabilities, expanding the boundaries of what is supported inside HubSpot's ecosystem of tools. You'll become a subject matter expert on our ecosystem and platform, helping us evolve our process and focus, and serving as a key technical partner within the group. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will report directly to engineering leadership and will become a trusted partner in expanding the technical strategy for the group.
We are looking for people who:
  • Have experience using or building great developer-focused tooling and services.
  • Have years of experience consistently delivering high-value, high-impact, cross-team projects. Staff and Principal Engineers are the most senior individual contributors at HubSpot. They lead by example, continually strive to raise the bar for the engineering organization, and help drive the product vision forward through technical contributions to our overall architecture and consistent, hands-on coding.
  • Have a thirst for technical challenges that leverage technologies like React and Typescript, while exhibiting a deep fundamental understanding of frontend architecture and systems that comprise the foundations of browser-based experiences. This role will primarily deal with frontend systems, although the ideal candidates can work effectively in both frontend and backend spaces.
  • Carry a technical curiosity on advancements in AI technologies and stay up to date on industry trends.
  • Wish to stay hands-on in all technical aspects and effectively collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders.
  • Have a history of developing solutions to problems that have had an outsized impact on the organization's business goals.
  • Provide strategic technical input and direction for major projects.
  • Push technologies and practices forward to improve the HubSpot ecosystem.
  • Share knowledge and advise engineers in their areas of expertise.
  • Demonstrate pragmatic decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Hold a bias for fixing problems with technology rather than process.
  • Are enthusiastic about building reliable and scalable systems.
  • Can guide teams beyond the status quo; we need engineers who lead us beyond what we have, and towards what we can build, while building a shared notion of how to get there.
  • Embodies our engineering team values .
