Tender and Project HSE & Sustainability Specialist - HVDC Service
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Tender and Project HSE & Sustainability Specialist to join the HVDC Service organization and play a key role in driving HSE excellence and sustainable service solutions across a global project landscape.
In this role, you will work across the entire service value chain - from tender phase to project execution and lifecycle management - ensuring that HSE, sustainability, and circular economy principles are embedded into how we deliver, upgrade, and maintain HVDC systems worldwide.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, operations, and project teams to integrate sustainability into commercial offerings, service execution, and long-term lifecycle strategies, supporting Hitachi Energy's ambition to transition from linear to circular business models.
This is a unique opportunity to combine HSE expertise, sustainability leadership, and service business understanding in a global, technically advanced environment.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Support tender activities by identifying, assessing, and integrating HSE and sustainability requirements into tender documentation, including risk evaluations and cost considerations
- Drive HSE and Sustainability performance in project execution, supporting service projects throughout delivery and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Integrate environmental and circular economy principles into service tenders, upgrade projects, and lifecycle strategies, aligned with global sustainability frameworks and regional regulations (e.g. EU Green Deal, ISO 14001, ISO 20400)
- Drive sustainable lifecycle management by embedding eco-design, material recovery, reuse, and end-of-life strategies into products and services
- Monitor and report environmental KPIs across service operations, including carbon footprint, resource efficiency, and waste reduction, ensuring high-quality data for internal and external reporting
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and operations to identify and implement sustainability improvements in warranty and care services, such as energy-efficient retrofits and sustainable spare-parts management
- Lead awareness, capability building, and change initiatives by developing training, tools, and best practices that embed environmental thinking into everyday decisions across global service teams
Your Background
- Solid HSE foundation through education and 5+ years of relevant experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Sustainability, Circular Economy, or Environmental Management is a strong merit
- Proven knowledge of circular economy principles, product lifecycle thinking, eco-design, and sustainable material management, preferably within industrial or service environments
- Experience from global service operations, including tendering and project execution, with the ability to integrate sustainability into technical and commercial offerings
- Strong understanding of international HSE and sustainability regulations and standards
- Strong collaboration and change-management skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and influence across cultures and functions
- Fluency in English, written and spoken; Swedish is considered a merit
