Service Engineer | Substation Automation & SCADA

As a Senior Commissioning & Service Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering, commissioning, troubleshooting and upgrading Substation Automation Systems (SAS) for utilities, transmission operators and industrial customers across Spain.

Working with technologies such as MicroSCADA, protection & control systems, communication networks and digital substation solutions, you will help customers improve grid reliability, operational efficiency and network resilience.

How you'll make an impact

• Perform advanced commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs on complex systems and equipment.
• Diagnose root causes of technical issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Execute service activities in compliance with technical standards, quality requirements, Health and Safety procedures, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Act as the main technical interface and point of contact for customers during service execution and after-service follow-up, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Support customer training, technical briefings, and on-site guidance when required, providing clear technical explanations, recommendations, and improvement proposals.

• Provide technical input for service quotations, upgrades, and retrofit opportunities.
• Coordinate with service coordinators, project managers, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient execution.

Your background

• Relevant experience in Substation Automation, SCADA, Protection & Control, Power Systems or Industrial Automation environments.
• Proven experience with complex installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle service activities
• Background in customer-facing roles, working independently on-site and managing technical responsibility
• Strong knowledge of one or more of the following, depending on the business area: Automation and control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA), Protection and control systems, communication networks
• Knowledge of Substation Automation Systems such as MicroSCADA or similar will be beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, functional specifications and technical documentation
• Flexibility to travel nationally and work on sites when required. Travel is expected to be limited and will vary based on project and customer needs, typically ranging from 0% to 20%.
• Native-level Spanish and a minimum B2 level of English
