Hitachi Energy is looking for a Senior Project Planner to join our Project Controls team within the Nordic Operating Unit of our Grid Integration business. The position is based in Vaasa, Finland or Västerås, Sweden, with hybrid working possibilities.
As a Senior Project Planner, you will play a critical role throughout the entire lifecycle of our most complex electrical substation projects, from tendering to project handover in the field of planning and scheduling. Your expertise and proactive approach will ensure consistency and alignment of scope, time, cost, and progress, ultimately contributing to the success and satisfaction of our customers.
In this role, you will be in the driving seat, ensuring projects have robust, dynamic, and well-structured schedules that meet contractual objectives and provide clear roadmaps for the execution phase.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust, dynamic project schedules that align with contractual commitments and provide a clear framework for successful project execution.
You will work closely with various stakeholders making sure the project schedules are used for work coordination, predictable forecasting, proactive schedule risk management, cost management, resource management, and of course, team alignment. You will also conduct schedule and resource analysis and prepare schedule progress reporting materials both for external and internal purposes.

Together, we share knowledge, solve challenges, and support one another in delivering excellence in every project.
How you'll make an impact
- Take a leading role in planning and scheduling activities in complex projects and support project teams with schedule governance, analysis and decision making
- Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated project schedules in close collaboration with project teams
- Support predictable schedule forecasting by aligning time, cost, resources and progress
- Identify schedule deviations, risks, and opportunities early, and communicate them clearly to project stakeholders
- Prepare schedule reports and analyses, including S-curves, critical path analyses, resource histograms and On-Time-Delivery (OTD) milestones
- Actively communicate schedule information to stakeholders to keep everyone informed
- Support and prepare What-if schedule scenarios, delay mitigation plans and Extension of Time (EoT) claims together with the project team
- Promote planning and scheduling best practices across the organization, act as a role model and support less experienced planners
- Drive the use and continuous improvement of planning and scheduling methodologies and tools
Your background
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electrical engineering or another relevant field
- Proven experience in planning and scheduling complex projects
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and inspire stakeholders across the project organization
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and good knowledge of schedule management theory
- The ability to prepare and maintain high quality, dynamic project schedules together with the project team
- A proactive and self-driven mindset, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- A structured and goal-oriented approach to your work, with a focus on delivering results
- Project Management Certificate (PMP® and/or PMI-SP®) is considered an advantage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Finnish and/or Swedish is considered a plus
