Senior Project Controller - CP&O
The Opportunity:
As a Senior Project Controller, you provide strategic financial guidance and support to both the Project Manager and Business Controller for assigned projects. Your role involves delivering forward-looking financial insights that enhance decision-making and performance. You are responsible for improving the quality of internal and external financial data to drive business outcomes.
As a Senior Project Controller you are recognized as a master in your discipline, typically achieved through advanced education and extensive work experience. Your responsibilities include establishing operational plans for your area, and effectively identifying, managing, and controlling risks and opportunities across assigned projects.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- The candidate shall be supporting to Switzerland Country, however the role might be dynamic to support other countries / units too.
- Project Controlling - Provide active business partnering to project management, challenge assumptions, forecasts and execution plans, monitor deviations, identify risks and opportunities.
- Project Reviews - Prepare inputs and documentation, ensure action follow-up and transparent reporting (Cost-Time-Progress alignment).
- Accounting & Reporting - Ensure accurate revenue/cost recognition, accruals / provisions and invoicing per IFRS and internal controls.
- Tender Support - Actively support Sales and Engineering in preparation of tenders, including but not limited to scope, pricing, costing, risks and opportunities. Ensure order booking in line with accounting and reporting guidelines.
- Monthly and Quarterly Closing - Regular closing tasks within assigned area of responsibility.
- Internal Controls - Ensure SOX compliance within assigned area of responsibility.
- Budgeting & Forecasting - Actively contribute to monthly forecasts of revenues and profits. Independent preparation and support of annual budgeting.
- Cash & NWC - Monitor billing plans, overdues and cash forecast together with PM and AR Teams.
- Country of Origin - Prepare and review preferential/non-preferential CoO calculations for project business.
- Continuous Improvement - Suggest and implement improvements to processes, templates and dashboards.
- Process Improvements - Independently identify areas of improvement, define and execute improvement initiatives with cross-functional support.
Your background:
- 7 - 10+ years in project controlling(industrial/manufacturing or EPC); High Voltage products/service exposure is a plus.
- Education: Bachelor's/Master's in Finance/Accounting/Business or related.
- Expert in project accounting (IFRS), forecasting, R&O/contingency, cash and claims.
- Advanced SAP S/4HANA (FI/CO/PS), Excel/PowerBI
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead across time zones and influence senior stakeholders; excellent English, German is plus.
- Certifications: PMI CAPM/PMP desirable; Hitachi Energy Project Execution/Project Controller Certification Journey (HEPECJ) willingness to enroll.
- Occasional travel to Switzerland and / or Other places for onboarding, reviews and key milestones.
