Senior Interface Lead - HVDC Civil Design
The opportunity
The Senior HVDC Civil Design Interface Lead is a global governance role within the Plants, Civil and Digital Engineering organization at Hitachi Energy HVDC. You will be responsible for defining and enforcing global standards, frameworks, and best practices for civil design and construction interfaces, enabling predictable delivery of HVDC projects worldwide in terms of time, cost, and quality.
You will provide global oversight and governance, supporting project teams and partners to deliver aligned and contractually robust civil engineering outcomes while minimizing risks related to delays, disputes, and claims. Through trusted leadership and a collaborative approach, you will drive consistency, embed lessons learned, and continuously improve how civil design interfaces are managed across the HVDC portfolio.
To be successful in this role, you apply a strong governance perspective, balancing technical knowledge with commercial and contractual awareness to support Hitachi Energy's interests across complex partnerships.
This role is based in Västerås or Ludvika, Sweden.
How you'll make an impact
- Co-develop and maintain clear contractual frameworks for civil design and construction together with partners and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with legal, procurement, and project teams to strengthen contractual clarity and support the prevention of disputes and claims.
- Ensure constructability and execution needs are reflected in contracts and translated into clear, practical engineering deliverables.
- Steward the global civil design interface framework, aligning design outcomes with construction needs and site realities.
- Support constructability reviews and standardized design handovers, using BIM and digital tools where they add value.
- Serve as a global point of support and escalation for complex or cross-project civil design and construction interface topics.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with partners and subcontractors, fostering shared understanding of standards and expectations.
- Guide and support regional project teams with governance, structure, and oversight on civil design interfaces.
- Promote a proactive approach to risk management, sharing lessons learned and best practices across projects globally.
- Contribute to long-term capability development through knowledge sharing, mentoring, digital solutions, and continuous improvement.

Your background
- Experience in civil or structural engineering from large scale energy or infrastructure projects.
- Background in leading civil design and construction interfaces across multidisciplinary, international teams.
- Confidence in shaping clear civil scopes that support efficient and well-aligned construction delivery.
- Good understanding of constructability and design handover from engineering to site execution.
- Familiarity with BIM and digital ways of working as tools for collaboration and clarity.
- Used to adapt a proactive approach to risk awareness, supporting smooth project delivery and claim prevention.
- Experience setting standards and best practices while supporting teams globally.
- A collaborative communicator who combines technical insight with commercial awareness.
