The opportunity:

Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business unit has delivered more than 4,000 projects over the last 15 years. Our Grid Integration portfolio spans a wide range of transmission and substation applications, which facilitate reliable and efficient system integration of the future digital electric network with minimum environmental impact. We incorporate the integrated systems, solutions and services of our business' DC and AC fields, including HVDC, Substations, FACTS, Grid and Power Quality solutions such as offshore wind connections, and Semiconductors. We offer Power Consulting for key segments in the energy system, such as renewables, transmission distribution and as well as e-transportation solutions.

As the SCM Manager, you will directly report to the HUB SCM Manager . In close cooperation with the country's tendering team, you are responsible for establishing the Tender Sourcing Plan (TSP) based on the sourcing related conditions of the client's tender specification and global/ territory sourcing strategy and for facilitating its adoption by all parties during tender process. During project execution phase you shall deploy the Tender Sourcing Plan (TSP) into a Project Procurement Plan (PPP) and ensure SCM-related deliverables are achieved in relation to price, quality and delivery in line with project requirements.

How you'll make an impact:

  • You will pro-actively participate in Tender-/ Capture Team during the kick-off and tender progress meetings for selected target projects, identification of sourcing related opportunities and critical commercial, fiscal and legal conditions of the client's tender specification and ensure flow over to the bidding documentation to suppliers / contractors, develop schedules, estimate, forecast, and budget to support all procurement requirements under the tender and project.
  • You will issue the project related Tender Sourcing Plan (TSP) based on the overall tender strategy, identified sourcing related opportunities and critical project conditions under consideration of the overall PG global/ territory sourcing strategies, collaborates with tender teams to identify new suppliers and supplier changes, and ensures customer approval for Tender/project supplier list.
  • You will document the TSP in the business unit specific standard , communicate the TSP to the local tender team and involve Global Category Managers and Local Strategic Buyers, Strategic Sourcing Team,on the target price for main equipment.
  • You will be supporting tendering in issuing the project budget and time schedule by providing timely and accurate input from suppliers' quotations incl. provision/ commitment of anticipated qualified improvement potentials, ensure that suppliers/ subcontractors are qualified .
  • You will ensure that supplier quotations remain valid until final placement of Purchase Order or until confirmation of tender project has been lost, provide required sourcing related information for Risk Reviews, participate in won/ lost-order analysis and communicate sourcing relevant information to local-, Territory, Global Strategic Sourcing Manager,
  • You will ensure cost reduction targets (cost reduction, cost avoidance, TCI, etc) are met and timely reported in compliance to both group-based targets as well as tender/project specific targets, ensure a TSP is available and updated for all tenders worked on; including all schedules, estimate, forecasts, and budgets to support all procurement requirements, prepare and lead Purchase Reviews with proper Committee to assess risks and define an action plan to mitigate the existing ones
  • You will coordinate and issue all sourcing review data for inclusion into the risk reviews, provide all relevant data to the LPG/PG SCM Manager monthly basis for inclusion into the monthly report matrix to be submitted to the BU SCM Manager
  • You will ensure the projects undertaken follow and comply with company health, safety, environmental and sustainability policies.

Your background:

  • You hold a master's or bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or business administration or any other qualification that is deemed suitable for the role e.g. degree, etc
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a project environment, supply chain function preferably in T&D business and minimum 3 years of experience in procurement of tailored equipment.
  • Good knowledge of processes in industrial large and complex or turnkey contracts, strength in commercial/legal aspects of purchasing.
  • Drive to continuously create results and innovative solutions, skilled communicator who can interface with numerous external and internal parties at different levels in a project environment.
  • Excellent communication & proven negotiation skills. Good English both written and spoken.
