SCM Intern

The opportunity:

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Intern to support our procurement team in optimizing sourcing strategies and ensuring efficient supply chain operations. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a global technology leader.

How you'll make an impact:

• You will assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting related to supply chain performance metrics (e.g., inventory levels, on-time delivery, supplier performance).
• You will support logistics operations, including tracking shipments, coordinating with carriers, and resolving minor shipping issues.
• You will participate in inventory management activities, such as demand forecasting assistance, stock reconciliation, and identifying potential discrepancies
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., procurement, production, sales) to gather information and facilitate supply chain processes.
• You will conduct research on supply chain best practices, market trends, and potential supplier evaluations.
• You will prepare presentations and documentation to support SCM projects and initiatives and perform administrative tasks as needed to support the SCM team.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude. Prior internship experience or coursework related to supply chain is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
