The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced R&D Software Developer focused on C++ application development to join our technology organization.

In this role, you will develop, high-performance, and secure software systems built with modern C++ (C++17/20), with a strong focus on real-time behavior, reliability, and long product lifecycle support.

As an R&D Software Developer within the Grid Automation domain, you will help shape innovative solutions for the power systems of tomorrow.

You will work closely with global technology teams that bring niche expertise and cutting-edge capabilities. Your work will directly support the development of real-time software used in critical infrastructure worldwide software designed for long-term reliability, high efficiency, and uncompromising security.

We value diverse experience and fresh perspectives. Even if you do not meet every listed requirement, we encourage you to apply. We are excited to learn more about you and the unique strengths you can bring to our team.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Develop system design in areas like multithreading, synchronization, I/O, and latency requirements for real-time operation.
  • Develop high-performance C++ cores to managed runtime services (.NET, RUST) with minimal latency overhead.
  • Implement performance optimization and scalability: profile threading behavior, minimizing lock contention, reducing memory allocations in critical paths, and ensure predictable latency at scale.
  • Maintain high code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to SOLID, KISS, DRY and industry best practices.
  • Participate in system design, best practices and maintaining code quality in performance-critical sections.
  • Participate in technical architecture reviews, design documentation, and roadmaps for feature development, refactoring initiatives, and legacy code modernization, collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to transform requirements into clear architectural designs.
  • Support strategic technology decisions on dependencies, build tooling, dependency management, and secure software supply chain practices, maintain cross-platform support: drive modernization of build systems, ensure consistency across multiple deployment environments, and support Linux/Windows compatibility.
  • Practical Linux development and deployment strategies.
  • Contribute to achieving business goals by designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Continuously enhance existing systems and contribute to the creation of new features.
  • Work effectively within an agile environment, continually expanding your technical expertise and understanding of the business domain, actively participate in a cross-disciplinary team and contribute to shared objectives.
