For our research center in Kraków, Poland, we are looking for a Research Scientist with knowledge of electromagnetic field's physics together with experience in software development to enhance simulation-based engineering processes and develop future applications for power grids. You will join a dynamic, motivated and creative team with a broad range of experience and competences. As part of our team, you will combine theory with practice, creating, testing and validating new technologies to enable the energy transition.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct electromagnetic field simulations of power products for Hitachi Energy Business Units.
- Develop and maintain internal simulation tools focusing on electromagnetic fields.
- Propose, contribute to, and lead research and development projects for numerical simulations of products for energy systems.
- Collaborate globally with teams of researchers and engineers at Hitachi Energy to identify, analyze, and solve real-world challenges in optimizing designs for future-generation products.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest numerical analysis technologies, algorithms, and software packages. Recognize opportunities for their practical application in industrial conditions.
- Actively promote your knowledge within the company and outside.
- Collaborate with local and global external partners, including universities, startups, and vendors.
- Disseminate your results in technical reports, scientific publications, research conferences, and patent applications.

Your Requirements
- Master's or higher degree in Applied Physics, Applied Computer Science, Electrical/Power Engineering, or related field.
- Fundamentals in electromagnetic field theory.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C#, C/C++, Java, Python, etc.)
- Knowledge of Linux OS
- Willingness to take an interdisciplinary approach and learn new knowledge when working with experts from different domains.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
In addition the following skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Knowledge of FEM analysis (e.g. SimCenter MagNet/ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL) and principals of CAD modeling (e.g. PTC Creo, SolidWorks, NX).
- Knowledge and experience spanning multiple disciplines (e.g., electrical, mechanical, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics).
- Proven track record of publishing research in reputable scientific journals and conferences.
- Experience in managing research projects, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively present research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
