R&D Engineer - Material Standards

The opportunity
As an R&D Materials' Engineer, you will help shape and maintain engineering material standards used across a global organization. You will support the creation, implementation and governance of technical specifications for reusable raw materials, semi-finished materials and components.

You will work at the intersection of engineering, material management and product data governance. Your expertise will help ensure that material specifications, engineering standards and product information remain accurate, consistent and accessible across factories and engineering teams worldwide.

In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues from engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, master data and quality functions. You will contribute to standardization initiatives, support users in selecting the right materials and specifications, and help improve data quality within central PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)/PDM (Product Data Management) systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with analytical thinking, documentation ownership and cross-functional collaboration. You will have a direct impact on engineering efficiency, product data quality and the successful adoption of global standards across the organization.

How you'll make an impact

  • Create and maintain material and component specifications.
  • Manage engineering standards within a central PLM/PDM repository.
  • Support users with material selection and specification implementation.
  • Analyze and validate material attributes and technical parameters for proper mapping.
  • Improve data quality, consistency and documentation governance.
  • Harmonize legacy material standards and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with factories, engineering, suppliers, supplier quality and cross-functional teams.
  • Support material classification structures definition and product data governance processes.

Your background
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Experience with technical specifications, engineering documentation or product data standardization activities and data management.
  • Understanding of materials, components and engineering standards and norms.
  • Experience with PLM/PDM tools is an advantage, e.g. Windchill, Teamcenter, SAP PLM, 3DX or equivalent .
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluent English and ability to communicate effectively in an international environment.
