Purchasing Intern

The opportunity:

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Intern to support our procurement team in optimizing sourcing strategies and ensuring efficient supply chain operations. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a global technology leader.

How you'll make an impact:

• You will assist the purchasing team with daily administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and document management.
• You will support the creation and processing of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
• You will conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify potential vendors and evaluate their capabilities, assist in negotiating with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• You will collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, production, finance) to understand material requirements and resolve supply chain issues.
• You will track and monitor supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement and escalating concerns as needed, help maintain and update supplier databases and procurement systems.
• You will participate in special projects related to cost reduction initiatives, process improvements, or sustainability efforts within the supply chain, prepare reports and presentations on purchasing activities and supplier metrics.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with procurement processes or supply chain concepts is a plus. A strong desire to learn and contribute to a global organization.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
